maybe they should do what they did in Minnisota, gov balanced the budget in a short time by increasing the taxes on the rich and the corporations. Did not hurt the economy at all. Some one has to pay sooner or latter.

"It's all your fault", shouted Jimmie, as he whizzed by in his vintage 56 T-Bird that he bought at Barrett-Jackson in January as lay offs begin to escalate throughout Alberta's oil, gas and construction industries.

Prentice needs to mandate the railways to move more oil!!! It's in the best interest of the province goddammit

Or u could always keep the annual rental of surface leases on crown land. Instead of giving it to the cowboys. Or should I say buying votes with it

Horse, heaven forbid the Handoutboys had to take a balance sheet write down on the million year government lease because they actually never owned the land. OH THE HUMANITY!!!
Just squatting basically. Good thing Alberta still has squatter rights.

The majority of the deficit could have been fixed by returning to 15% corporate tax rate.....companies wouldn't have left.
The majority of MLA's wanted this...Redford said no...don't you love the democratic system.
What gets me, we have had the richest province for quite a number of years, but as soon as prices waiver, we are in a crisis...great management ...NOT!
Tax reform for buddies, tax credits for buddies and we can't survive a little dip in prices. Farmers survived BSE, but Alberta is only into a price decline for a few months, and we are in big trouble.....
And, although some will think me a fool, most of this started with Klein after he did in the deficit....

Oh, I agree this could be a major....however that really wasn't my point.....my point is it has been mismanaged for years.....Ralph was even taking the interest out of the Heritage Trust for general revenues.
I can't believe how quickly the government coffers are in trouble.....

I know it isnt the quite the same today. But i seem to recall yellow iron sitting in fenced yards for three years and almost all sectors that existed at the time had same fate.
Lot of people havent seen a real crash.
