    Charlie

Did you throw that in to deflect the issue away form Tom's stupid post regarding Manitoba?

I'm calling Tom out on it and your worried about a HBO show. Charlie what would your comment be if it was reversed and the comment was made about Alberta?

Charlie, I hoped you might respond after seeing the reference. Can you believe where that story has gone? It gets wilder.

Forage, Tom is a unique character. I'm thankful to know him. He has brought an interesting aspect to my life.

I have responded to Charlie's post. I'm not trying to derail (ha) this thread as Charlie obviously wasn't either.

Forage and Tom, re having everyone at the party, my problem is what kind of party? As far as everyone phoning their MP, which never hurts, it will be useless.

That approach leaves a policy vacuum. What rail policy do we want? More regulation and what form? Commercial logistics which doesn't exist now?

As the producer of a product that mostly moves by rail, we are not even the shipper in most cases. So as the producer, perhaps we need to concentrate on the first point, the elevator and grain co.

If our contracts stated that delivered or not the grain cos had to pay at least 75% of the value of the contract on the delivery date, plus storage after that date, things might start to change.

Now, the grain cos, as the shipper, might be more proactive and forceful with their lobby for rail reform. Why not take farmers, except for a Producer Association, out of rail discussions?

Sounds like Tom's your pastor? When he tells you to drink the purple kool, I guess you'll just follow. Doesn't surprise me.

Nothing ventured... nothing gained... EXCEPT when fighting the railroads!

I think I have become Tonto... of the recent Lone Ranger... and have a dead Johnny Depp crow hat.

Me thinks I should post a lone ranger trailer ... the railway issues are timeless!

No Forage, Tom's not my pastor. I'm not a fan of organized religion, you may have noticed.

I contemplated saying that you were unique as well, but you would likely have said, "Braveheart, you stated I am unique. You don't know me so how can you say that".

Your comments on this thread towards me and Manitoba could only be taken as ignorant and offensive. Like Prentice you are trying to back track now.

Agree that grain growers should not let shippers off the hook in rail shipping situation.
We are so fixated on rail monopoly powers that we ignore the graincos role in regulations that large elevator companies gain advantage from.
Wonder if it was concern for farmers or their own short term well being that led graincos to resist change to revenue cap that could encourage greater grain shipping capacity.

I agree with hop and braveheart - it's time for line companies to stand up for those who keep their lights on . They have been strangely quiet
