What have you learnt on here.

Looking back to see how long I have been posting here, 1/2/2001, Is the first I can find.
Reading a few of my early posts I realise I have changed my opinions and learned much in the last 14 years.

I have had lots of theories on how we could do things better. I even though a UK CWB was the solution back then.

Eventually I have come to the conclusion that we just have to make the best of what we have.

Grain companies our marketing partners not the enemy.
The end user is the customer may demand and expect a spec, different from what nature has allowed us to produce.
A good relationship with our local traders and up front honesty on grade etc pays in the long term.
A phone call can be a premium, not everyone always gets that call.

So to thank-you agri-ville and everyone who posts especially Charlie P . It more than a coffee shop some of the time

Refreshing to see your comments, ianben.
All too often, agriville posts have been about adversarial relationships and attitudes rather than complementary ones with other value chain participants,

Ianben, for me your comments are spot on. I agree 100%.

I would add that that working hard on things within our control, while not stressing over things we can't control is a good general rule.

        Same all over the world.
Deal with someone you can trust.
        Your reputation is your reputation.
It can get better or worse with every deal.
Same goes for the other side.

          Ianben,

Thanks for the great post! Your words are true... We live in a wonderful time! Fewer people starving today...

Our soap boxes... are often Agriville. Thanks folks at Agriville and Charlie for being patient with us... and allowing us the opportunity... to beat our chests... and get the words out... that are on our minds!

Communication... has never been simpler... seems like getting people to work together... is tougher.

We are blessed of this there is no doubt... good crops... plenty of really good food at the grocery store...

          God bless you and yours!

Stand up for what you believe in.
If you never ask how do you ever expect things to change.
Some times you have to dance with the devil to save your soul.
Keep your friends close but your enemies closer.
Ah farming no other business like it out their.
If everyone is going one direction maybe its time to go the other way.
Sunday fun day is just around the corner.

Every farm has a unique signature depending on the environment surrounding it . Physically and mentally .

Agriville has always been a good place for me to listen and learn. I don't have as much contact with the farm community as I used too so I need something like Agriville to keep me grounded in everyday farm issues/thoughts and conditions.

Agriville has also at times worked on my issues of patience, tolerance and above all ego. A nice quote I took to heart from the Alberta Barley Commission meeting in a presentation about social media - You don't have to fight in every battle you are invited to. I try to remember that when I post.
