My point wasn't about intentionally miss representing. It was about lack of training at all levels of QC.
Most elevators can't identify mixed classes due to lack of training. I don't think farmers would take the risk of intentionally intermixing but contamination does happen.

The other thing is the samples that are taken at the elevator would never stand up in court. Can you prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the sample that is kept in the elevator is yours and never been tampered with or mixed with any other sample?

Don't think mix ups happen? Think again! Don't think samples are never tampered with? Think again!

But if you sign the document saying you have no unregistered varieties and deliver unregistered IT doesn't matter what they call it. You signed it saying everything you deliver to x company is registered.

The onus is on Growers to do the right thing. End if day 1 grower is gonna screw it up for everyvody.

Agree, but the problem is, if the farmer believes he has 100% registered variety but there is rogue classes intermixed no-one is trained to pick them out.

Wheat of other classes is a degrading factor and if the elevator isn't finding those rogue kernels they are giving the wrong grades and increasing possibility of contaminating system.

If I signed a document, believing I have reg variety for that class, then it was traced back to my sample I could question that sample and why the grader didn't degrade because of mixed classes. How would that stand up in court?

I don't think that an elevator can prove that any sample they have is mine. I am not present when that sample is taken and some elevators won't even let farmers into the grading room to make sure that they are handling the sample with due diligence.

Every rail car, every truck every time they transfer of grain in elevator have retained samples. Don't think that mix ups don't happen.

I have witnessed elevators miss representing samples right in front of producers and the producer didn't even realize what was going on.
I have questioned elevators on they way they were wrongfully handling my samples and they had no idea they were doing it wrong or why they did it that way.

          Sad!!!
