    Bucket,

I agree far too much freight is on the roads that should be on the rails. We can change this. We need a 'pull' system that creates great rail services. Now is the time for the 'Performance Bond' to assure those services are provided.. by the best provider... like Europe does now.

ianben, we've always paid our own transportation costs, with or without the cwb, under the cwb we also had to pay demurrage costs, at least we don't have to pay that now. The cwb is a non-issue. We have a small pop. and we grow quite a bit of grain so we have to export it and it's a long way to salt water. ( the crow rate paid for some of our transport costs in the distant past ) Huge diff. between here and Britain.

Boy are you ever sticking out your neck out here on Agriville bashing the Manitoba NDP Government. We all know the majority of posters on here detest the NDP party in general, so it takes a lot of balls on your behalf to start a thread like yours in a nice safe place.I personally think there all useless, as many other posters have stated above.

Klaus your post that followed was the one that show how little you know about Manitoba and Winnipeg as a whole:

"Kind of like people saying Winnipeg is an awesome metropolis... I've been in Winnipeg. .. Calgary... Edmonton... Regina... Saskatoon... Buenos Aires... Minneapolis... Fargo..."

"Of all of those Winnipeg is the dirtiest slummiest city".

I have been in every city you mention above, with the exception of Buenos Aires, and let me tell you in the winter they all look the same. Klaus in case you haven't realized it, snow turns brown when you salt and gravel streets. I was recently in Edmonton and it looked dirty as well, but I understood why.

Klaus if Winnipeger's are proved of where they live, that's a positive thing, in what way is this any of your concern. I have family and friends who live in Wpg and their neighborhoods are well taken of, and in no way look like slums as you describe them.

Klaus reread BTO's thread "Things to hate about Manitoba" a few pages back. Many posters mention many positive things they like about Wpg. Educate your self a little it won't hurt you.

Klaus you stated you moved from Manitoba, if you dislike it so much why are you running truck up and down our highways.

Klaus, I guess now you'll be suggesting to Agriville Admn I be banned from this site for stating my opinion as well.

Don't you think we are still picking up the demurrage charges?

Stonepicker, UK exports grain too possibly 3 million tonnes, just not from Liverpool.
Need to be near Southhampton or east side of country for that.
Loss of CWB logistics must be contributing to the problems I read about. and just trying to point out it is likely to cost you all more in the future and some of you much more.

It is a global market and your distance from the sea and the rail line is your problem. location location location nothing can change it.

I remember cwb logistics, they would plug the elevators with one grade of wheat and then sell a different grade at the coast and then complain that the railroads weren't getting it there in time. And the farmer would pay all the demurrage on the ship through the pool accounts. Oh and then there we sat with our bins full of grain and nowhere to haul it.I prefer the free market. Ianben, do you have a national grain agency in britain that requires you to sell you grain only through them? And then they'll tell you what your gonna get paid for it, you don't have a choice. We could send a few guys over and help you set one up.

The thread is about who you ring tomorrow.

What is, and more importantly is not going to change in the next few years in your location.

When you work out what it is possible to change give them a ring.

My Uk examples were just show what opertunities my location gives me.

When you know what your location gives you at least know what is achieveable.

If you think the government and railways are/can fix this get straight on the phone.

Sometimes you have to admit there is no one to phone.

Here BSE 1996, no one to phone.
Stop rearing beef was the answer. Then find a different product somebody wants.

Bse here now. No one to phone because our ag minister says everything is OK .

Even though the cow came from the same farm or herd and CFIA didn't do there jib years ago. We are to ignore that fact.

farmaholic, I don't have one. I thought i did 15 years ago based on 50 before that, but when i saw how CN/CP and its big room full of lawyers can twist everything to its own bend, we literally have no way to make change.

We need a solution that can actually take hold.

For a recent example, even after gov't intervention, the railroads payed how much in penalties? I don't want to say its hopeless, but it sure seems that way. All the things bucket et al have posted has been tried with utter failure.

I'm pretty sure rockpile feels the same way, perhaps he can add to it.

Its why i asked, What should i say on this phone call?

Yes they are so powerful its scary! Their is a answer, just not totally sure!
                      Yes for 100 years what's n place hasn't worked!
But maybe that rail loop in SE Sask has potential I will support it!
Maybe global warming and I go strait to Hudson bay'
But tge purpose of phoning is to remind Ottawa that nothing has changed! Nothing at all. That's what I am going to say plus the March 15 day is a rough one on lots of guys I know simple aolution their! But as long as the gov thinks all is well or only a few are effected nothing changes!
Sitting And doing nothing they think we're all fine!
But I go back to the initial thought about the industry wanting us farmers to grow more!
Just imagine if we get their how low prices will be if the system we have today isn't changed!
Warbiton wants our wheat to mix with their shit so we must have product the world wants!
Just need industry to g t their shit together
So phone phone and phone some more!

                        TWEETY

What I say when I call is how are the railways preparing for additional capacity required for 2 new potash plants that will come on stream in the next 5 years?

Bethune will need 3 mmt of potash to move to the west coast.

Then I ask about the truck traffic on the highways and if anyone has studied it's cost to be on the public highway system.

Canada is an exporting country. To move bulk logistics to the public highway system is idiotic at best.

To allow it to continue is incompetence.

Now one thing the gov could do is fine the life out of them every time a oil car falls off the rail!
10000000. A day they burn. Shareholders don't like shit like that! Insurance quits paying after a while!
                          Get a pair and challenge!
