Alberta Pulse Doing Strategic Session with CEO Gord Bacon

I am meeting with Pulse Canada CEO Gord Bacon over the next couple of days... at a Strategic Dev. session of Alberta Pulse Growers by Calgary.

We will make the most of this time to go through these issues and put together a plan of Action.

If there are specific issues you would like me to bring up about transportation services...

Questions you need answers to that are not here in our threads the past week?

CEO Gord and his people at Pulse Canada are very aware of the critical nature and need for change. They are directly connected with the Canadian Special Crops Association... so are very well aware of container shipping and all forms of logistics services grain farmers must encounter in Western Canada.

CEO Gord worked for the CWB... in his life before becoming CEO of Pulse Canada. His knowledge of transportation and grain marketing logistics is sweeping and global class stature.

Cheers! I will check in from time to time... to forward issues and questions

Thanks in advance for your help.

Imagine that? the CWB wasn't run by bumbling fools who didn't know their ass from their elbow. Maybe that's why transportation and marketing ran smoother back then?

      Grassy,

Please speak to CEO Gord, I could not even try to explain how much knowledge and wisdom CEO Gord has... he is truly a class leader that I and many in western Canada appreciate!

        1. Vessel reports.

        2. Graincos reporting sales at the end if the week. Past present and future.

        3. Price and basis reporting at west coast and prairies.

        4. Point by point car orders and fulfillment. Histories would help to see which local is getting and will get cars.

        5. Grainco space at every point.

        6. Introduction of a transport coordinator with the ability to force cars where they need to be. You can't short an area and e pet farmers to haul an extra 60 miles. On public highways no less.

        7. An all industry transportation study dealing with the amount of freight forced to the public highway due to lack of capacity. Steel coils and double van are examples of rail traffic on the public system. Any regina/winnipeg to calgary freight are examples of down loading.

        8. Canada's version of the US surface transportation board.

        That's a start.

1 thru 5 short be an easy read report issued the following Tuesday.

If they need an example of this just Google wheat news and go to trading charts. They have the usda reports as they are issued.

But as in another thread I wish you the best.

The railways need a regulator with a good stick. Problem is no one has the balls to use it. Least of all conservative MPs.

          Bucket,

Hence we need a 'Performance Bond Pool' so no individual shipper... Producer Car or otherwise... can be singled out for vengeance by the RR. 10 percent deducted from all RR invoices... and sent to the Pool. Only released when Shipper satisfied with transport logistics provided.

We need a 'pull' system of service... this would go a long way to providing accountability!

No different than the grainco's are required to bond grain growers... RR required to be bonded by the 'Performance Bond' covering Shippers for non-delivery of transport services.

            Tom

Good ideas but can you get 1 MP to understand it?

They are the guys that need to change it.

We need our conservative MPs to act instead of turtling because an election is coming.

The market for lentils would be destroyed- yes totally destroyed if there is any genetic medication to lentils. We have been marketing to Europe and other countries since 1979. Documentation that insures no genetic modification is a requirement with every load we export. Just fricken make sure!

I wish you the best. Unless you are at meetings where your opinion matters and you have a vote it's only a matter of time before someone ****s it up.

As an example in 2 words.

                          Triffid flax.

And it will happen again. Market acceptance comes with farmers testing.

And I think it is time to stay away from wheat with your round up herbicides for desication. I think this is doing more damage to our wheat markets than we think.

                              Bucket,

I agree the flax fiasco was costly to our farm... and poorly compensated for. Since there was NO pedigreed sales of this seed... it does show just how badly things can go... if improper quality control... and brown bag seed are allowed to provide our seed stocks.

Gord is giving our opening address this morning... will give report later in the day.

                              Thanks folks for your patience!

                              Cheers!
