I will not cry for those loosing thier job as they have been raping the oil industry for yrs and driving up prices to all. Going to be hard to find a job that pays $40/hr to sit in a pickup and text all day.

CMHC and banks, ie. you and me on the hook for all the monster homes, humungous pck ups and RV's. Sure hope it turns around before it comes to that. Tons of good jobs on Workopolis should get filled.

Lot of TFW contracts must be coming to an end you would think. City of lloydminster has over 2000 Philippines. Not to mention all the Muslims and Africans. Most are TFW and come a year two ago. The Philippines are for the most part great folks but are on a far lower pay scale than everyone else. No wonder they'll keep them as long as they can.

Second refinery is 80% done and these guys need to be replaced with more skilled workers. Jobs were being bid on long before oil price went down.

While its great media, the real story isn't out there.

These projects have multi decade time frames. This downturn is just a blip. Heck now they can bring in cheaper labour.

Some of you sure seem to like misery.
Newsflash! Most of the laid off workers wouldnt work on your farm or in the elevator anyway! The people your gleeful to ship back overseas are the candidates.
Do you really want an '81 like crash???? Hoping for '29 so you can say I told you so. Remember boys, we were all in the same boat then.

                  I remember 1982. You couldn't buy a job then.

                  Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Houses in calgary - they just handed the keys to the bank. I knew an old guy that picked up a monster house for basically nothing. Today I would think it's worth in the millions.

Perhaps but his survivors are doing great, just like our beneficiaries in 30-40 years!
