    http://geneticliteracyproject.org/2015/03/03/only-organic-stonyfields-gary-hirshberg-promote-hate-speech-against-american-farming/

"How should society respond to this sort of brazen, fear-for-profit behavior? As consumers we should vote with our dollars by boycotting all the products from the companies behind “Only Organic,” first and foremost Stonyfield Farms for its “leadership” role (see full list of companies at the end of this post). We consumers need to recognize when we are being manipulated for someone else’s gain. Instead we can take confidence in the farmers who produce food that is remarkably safe and affordable.

I don’t believe that these marketing strategies reflect the ethics of real organic farmers, certainly none that I’ve met. Someone made the excellent suggestion that organic farmers could start a “not in my name” campaign to say that they don’t want to see the whole organic movement dragged down to this low level, and they don’t want to see their neighbors and fellow farmers maligned."

So where are the lies in that video? Conventional farmers don't spray their crops? or give cattle hormone injections?

<i>"So where are the lies in that video?</i>

You mean the not so subtle lie that unless you're organic you're abusing animals and poisoning the planet?

Propaganda at it's ugliest, using (abusing) children for deceptive marketing purposes.

This is no different than scientists telling us this is good for u but avoid this cause its bad for u. Then five years later they spin the total opposite tale and we as consumers or "the public" we just eat it up and move on believing it. Its easy for them to make shit up and not justify it. Most people won't do there own research to determine whats bullshit and what isn't. That is the problem. Perfect example is that fat ****er on the A and W commercials blabbing about hormone free beef. Those ****ers wouldn't no the difference if there lives depended on it.

            Grassfarmer, don't drink coffee lol!

But, lets use something else. Do i buy an iphone of an android? Depends on the marketing, and if there wasn't any, wouldn't even want one. but, i wanna be like all the other drones at stare at my phone 23 hours a day.

Kaiser, labeling is not required of safe food. Label the 2% of the organic if you want to segregate as a marketing ploy.

Its all marketing ploys to sell. I can't understand why the organic industry hasn't been sued for false advertising.

tweety, that was an avoidance post. Lets get real, stick to a food product as that is what we are talking about - do you eat brown bread or white. Did someone have to tell you which to pick?

You stated that "consumers don't know what they want they have to be told what they want."

Does that apply to you because it certainly doesn't to me? Quit treating consumers (our customers) like fools.

I am going from memory, ten years or so ago, in one of my agriculture classes I was horrified to read the minimum cage size for chickens- something like 1.4 square feet per bird. This is about 14.2 inches by 14.2 inches. These are chicken cages stacked on top of each other. I also have been told by a very reliable source about the way live laying hens are disposed of. I can't even repeat what was witnessed. There is a limit to what is ethical, and evidently man knows no limit.

Screw it. Let them have their share of the planet for as long as they can hang onto it. The same could be said about us mainstream. We spend so small of a percentage of our income on food here it doesnt matter.
Maybe there will be a 'family' farm for anyone who wants to do it. Live the dream. Come to think of it Im jealous.
How long will that last before the Asians and East Asians and Africans own it and do whatever is necessary.
Maybe by then theyll be rich enough their population growth will be negative too and we can all eat whatever we want. Many years down the road.
Im tired and i wonder if it will matter in the end.

If gmo labelling comes in then so should labelling for organic vegetables that say, fertilized with animal feces.
