Highwayman.
I could not have said it better!
While without a doubt all of the parliamentarians would readily admit they are not perfect... they have spent the time... tried and; worked hard...
We are in the best shape financially of any G7 nation.
I know my MP Kevin Sorensen is very often frustrated by the process that Ottawa requires administratively... it has developed over 150 years... the 2006-11 time period was a minority government... which meant those holding the balance of power in opposition... got close to what they requested.... much more spending... and administrative processes retained much Liberal tendencies from the past decades they were in power.
I know my MP is one of the hardest working people I know... and his wife Darline has truly sacrificed a huge amount... and worked even more than MP Kevin.
I am truly very grateful for these efforts by all of our western MP's over the past 10 years... they have not been easy or fun most of the time!
MUCH appreciation and Thanks to all MP's who serve in our nations Capital Ottawa...
Who LITERALLY have been attacked and shot at, called every name under the sun... yet have often turned the other cheek and truly tried to do right by Canadians.
God Bless you all... and keep your families in good health and spirits! You truly make me proud to be a Canadian.
WELL DONE THY GOOD AND FAITHFUL FRIENDS!!!

Highwayman and tom.
If harper didn't like being forced to spend money, he could have had a quick election on his plan.
But he knew he would lose. That's why he cratered to the opposition demands.
Anyone notice the weekly grain Stats?
The railways are moving less grain than last year.

Too bad there are only a handful of people in this agriville debate.
A whole lot like the real world where there are still only handfuls of adults interested in this debate or any other.
And how many minds are open for even minor shifts in position.
I personally agree with those who critically analyse entitlements; thieves; personal and individual business gain and two faced persons.
And the truth really is that a country is at stake and that a country and many of its citizens could be destroyed in the time period of waiting for things to "sort out".
That's what this particular version of "only positive thinking" just might do for society.

The problem today is that the railways and graincos can say take it or leave it.
The railways have plenty of work to do. They can use that to force their plan of removing the revenue cap. Some agree that will solve the problem. It won't. The railways are so far behind they think they are ahead. Eventually a competitor will say we can do better and for less. But it still requires a government to make it happen. These guys won't.
The graincos are the same. Don't like the price? - we know our collusionary friends down the road price is no better. And neither is their schedule.
I thought maybe the cwb would use their government money to break the graincos cartel/mafia family like business plan but it seems they are more than willing to join them.
For those that don't engage here and just lurk. Be sure. Nothing other than government strong arming or a severe drought will solve this. And a drought is just a bandaid because the problems are still tthere. Just refer back to 1997 and ask if the problems have been solved.

Government orders a year ago for railways to move grain were acceptable or even welcome when accompanied by message that better long term solutions had to be found.
Do not see that happening and populist support from growers is to extend orders and further regulate railways.
Think back to Otto Lang, Pepin, Mazankowski, Goodale, Trudeau, Mulroney, Cretien, Martin and now Ritz and Harper all had to fight farmer resistance to change and we have same rail shipping problem for over one hundred years.
As farmers, we have been our own worst enemy by resisting change.

Hop do you have a solution? By the looks of percentage hauled on a previous post there was a boost when the govt got involved last year. We now have nothing and crap service again. Cncpr pay 50 million to their lawyers per year. Could that not be put to service?

CP,
Last trip south we spent hours in both directions... figuring out EXACTLY what was allowed. It takes real determination and skill to satisfy all the ever growing regulatory burden... at the CDN US Border.
It is great when one weaves and knits a solution... that is legal and goes well!
