PM Harper answers questions at SARM

    THE REBEL STAFF
Prime Minister Stephen Harper came out guns a-blazing against restrictions on gun ownership.

“My wife’s from a rural area and obviously gun ownership wasn’t just for the farm, but was for a certain level of security when you’re a ways away from immediate police assistance,” he said when asked about new firearms legislation during a question-and-answer session at the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities annual convention.

He also defended law-abiding gun owners, “guns are something people use for recreation and the vast majority do so safely.”

“What we are trying to do with [Bill C-42] are some things that will both increase safety around the acquisition and use of firearms but also to deal with some of the bureaucracy and excessive red tape.”

Bill C-42 would limit the discretionary authority of chief firearms officers.

“In some provinces, those firearms officers have exercised their authority in extremely arbitrary ways,” Harper said.

    Interesting post following:

We reached an “understanding” with the local RCMP in our community a long time ago.

As everybody with a dog knows, the mutt’s usually barking at something during the night. 99% of the time it’s just some animal, but there is a problem with petty theft so, the police were told, “Look. If you want us to follow your city rules, then every, single, solitary time that mutt barks we are calling, YOU. Most likely just some some stupid deer, we ain’t taking the chance.”
Since there are only about a half dozen RCMP assigned to most rural municipalities, and most municipalities are at least a thousand square miles of almost all gravel road, you figure out what the police decided.
Besides. About the only crime that really goes on are kids stealing gas. Psycho nut jobs don’t tend to bother farmers and ranchers because movies still play farmers and ranchers as psycho nut jobs who are very good with guns.
    Which they are.
With the guns I mean because rural kids are taught to shoot before they’re taught to read. By ten most can put a round through the top of a pop can at a couple hundred yards and have had more practice than a S.W.A.T. sniper."

Talking about guns is a diversionary tactic to avoid talking about real issues like railways.

That's from the liberal play book.

He has to go along with a few others if they can't show leadership and address real issues.

The gun issue is just to keep farmers voting for them.

Very good point GOODRUM, If grain prices tracked the rate of inflation, producers wouldn't have to double, triple or quadruple their farm size to be able to keep up with costs. Or over produce the commodities they grow, to try and keep up, while at the same time pushing the price of their commodity down. Odd, most other businesses try not to use this model.

Coffee shop rents are always higher than actual rents paid.

Bill C-42 is a step in the right direction.
Getting rid of the Liberal gun registry was another step in the right direction.

Harper throwing a bone to the redneck element to quell any dissent and distract from the issues. Yup, that'll work.

The Conservatives have handled this issue well.
This bill is a step in the right direction.
Removing the Liberal gun registry was another improvement.

Trudeau Jr. has recently talked about supporting a Liberal long gun registry AGAIN.

                      So let's concentrate on guns.

                      Forget the railway issue.

There has been a major role reversal since the early years of bandits robbing trains...Now its trains robbing the people. Gun Control seems to be working for the RRs.
                        LOL
