There is a bare patch on the home quarter!!!

We are in pure white country, except there is the odd bare patch showing up which is good. I have 54 inch fences for the sheep, but have been penning them at night because the fence with the re frozen snow, has many areas two feet or less high, and the coyotes can pretty much walk over the top.

Wife went to Regina the other day. I asked her where the snow ran out. She said Elfross. GRRRR. Another friend was up at Carrot river. Way less snow than down here. GRRRR.

We really are in a weird little pocket. Oh well. Highest temp has been plus 5 for about a dang hour...

Hard to be motivated today. I see pics on the news with not a stitch of snow in sight. Depressing!

I see common sense responses to PM Harper's rural defence by Brian Lilley of TheRebel.media.

We live in a land 'true north strong and free'... if we are willing to fight for our freedom... for many would take our freedoms away!!!

We have a lot more water than what should be there .
Looks cool for 5-7 days yet.

freewheat, in SESK we're having one of our earliest melts with less than 5% left out in the fields, regardless of stubble length or type. We froze up saturated and with the quick melt, we have water everywhere. So hoping the frost comes out from under that water and soaks in before planting, which may start generally around mid Apr(provided we don't get more snow storms). Any amount of rain or frequent rains and we'll be sitting, just like 2011.
In 2012, none of our winter snow pack had even melted by Apr 25th, one of the latest melts in memory.

Yeah, lots can happen. The reality is that this is pretty early for here to even have had a half dozen days near or above freezing, but it is still so frustrating to be behind again. I thought we had less snow than we got. Until I walked my fence and fell through to my waist. In the bush, the snow is crotch deep. Don't ask me how I know...

Forecast looks cold for several days.

So true Darcy. The same thing hit me a number of years ago after a discussion with a crop farmer whom I had held up as the ideal sized operation. He worked about 4 times the land base that I had at the time.

My bubble was burst when he stated emphatically that "everything would work out better for me if I had just another 300 acres..."

Everyone could drive a couple hours south and feel behind. That is how it has always been and always will be.

Really small patches of snow in the bushes only snow left around here! Warmth and wind, together, will have you high and dry, soon, Freewheat. pars.

Newguy. I am not talking a couple hours, and I am not talking south only. I am talking 20 miles each way! So crazy....

Send that wind north, Miss Parsely!

Well written piece Darcy. I've posted it over on the "commodity" forum as there are some guys there who would benefit from reading it and reflecting upon it …but I doubt they will agree, LOL.
