In the 70's, I seeded over 1,400 acres with a Number 10 IHC 12 ft. disc drill, and a 830 2 cy. Johnny Popper., no cab, 4" electric drill fill auger that never worked half the time, so was faster to fill drill with a 5 gallon pail. Today I drive by the neighbour, and they got 5 brand new 84 ft Bourgaults, all with the 950 tanks and now that they will seed about 7,000 acres per outfit. I guess this is called progress.

131 acres/ft last year 20 hr days. 65 acres/ft this year by adding 2nd drill. Don't expect to double productivity the first year but hoping for 50% gain

Still have the 830 in the shed. Had her running yesterday after getting the pup to run right.
55 acres/ here, not the basis of a plan just how it turned out. Could get more with efficiencies Im working on. Running one shift.
Didnt fert much with the old hoe drills did we? Didnt have to think, just drive.

$1.2M? You can get into that brand new for $1M maybe a smidge less. Again it's not always about what you save but profit. I see lots of farms who lose $50 to save $20. What does seeding two or more weeks late cost you because you think 100 acres per ft saves on some expense
