Cattlemen work together. Dairymen. organics do too Just takes a moment of commitment to focus on transportation. Put everything on the table. Everything. And then either agree to agree. Or agree to disagree. Or engage in one hell of a fist fight.

    Works every time. Pars.

Cattlemen work together? you've got to be kidding parsley. The most stubborn, independent of all in agriculture are the cowboys. We've learnt that over the last decade.

Was a supporter of the Saskatchewan Stockman's Association for many years. The Canadian Cattlemen's Association. The Canadian Hereford Association. The Saskatchewan Hereford Association. Southeast Saskatchewan Hereford Association. Countless local sales associations which included many breed varieties.

In fact, Canadian Western Agribition was created by cattlemen, with one of the main builders of the yearly internationally-attended event, being a cattleman by the name of Chris Sutter.

Cattlemen I knew, and dealt with, arranged and promoted international sales of breeding stock and embryos, to international buyers. These buyers lived in every country of the world. cattlemen.arranged local sales. Supported 4-H.

        My. My.

So, you see grassy, I worked with them, remain friends with them, admire them, and am very grateful to them for the co-ordinated efficiency they lived and breathed, as they contributed to our economies locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally.

We obviously don't live in the same world, grassy. Or perhaps we don't view it the same. pars.

I would suggest the groupings you list as being similar to the associations and commodity groups within the grain sector. Lots of good people working in various small groups each with their own agenda.
When it comes to presenting a united voice to Government to give them direction during BSE it was hopeless. Feedlot sector is on a different page from cow calf operators, neither happy with the role of processors in "fixing" the cattle prices but disagreeing on possible solutions.
CCA and its provincial counterparts largely following a USDA directed mandate setting them apart from their rancher members. Refundable levies became an issue due to this perceived lack of representation, new beef organisations set up.
"conventional" producers are mad at companies promoting "natural" beef.

Not much unity from my viewpoint and I've been closely involved through the last decade plus. I guess we see things differently.

We can agree on the fact that you do think differently!

Doesn't it get lonely up there in the heavens?
