    That is a wonderful and cheerful smile for a half mil execution and being on a hunger strike! Best of luck Tom.

      Thanks Agchat!

      If we can't have fun... then I shouldn't be doing this!!!

      Grin!

      I had a great Meeting with my MP Kevin yesterday!

      Minister Sorensen has been watching and reading these many postings I do... as well as on my Facebook!

      When we spoke of the railways... and the CWB... MP Kevin was simply glowing... with enthusiasm for changes we are about to encounter in the next year!

      My Friend Allen and I were very encouraged with this meeting!

      1) Performance Bonds were discussed;

      2) CWB opportunities to buy grain from all growers in western Canada;

      3) Expanded west coast port facilities that allow this expanded market share... that is intended to make our grain system more efficient and competitive.

      Few words were spoken... just smiles and grins a mile wide!

      WOW!!! are we going to have changes!

        Well Tom, I have to admit that I second guess alot that you do, but the execution is BULLSHIT. I do mean good luck with that.

          Thanks Agchat, The Alberta Court system is really lost in Corporate Lawyer pandering. If you don't spend $1500/hr... don't expect the judgement to respect you.

            From reading the caption below the photo, don't you find it ironic that you were challenging the system to ship grain to the U.S. then, and now that you have the freedom, you refuse to haul there. Always looking for a fight.

              I thought when we got rid of the cwb we would be able to deliver all our wheat off the combine and get big money for it.

                I have always worked for market arbitrage.

                Hauling with a truck 400 miles was never the goal either from an environmental perspective or from our local community prospects.

                I'm working for fair opportunities to build a better western Canada. That will make a better country in whole.

                What an amazing time to live in!

                  We need to deliver enough grain to satisfy end users and pay our bills.

                  I would expect nothing less. This should be reasonable.

                  No?

                    Tom,

                    With the cwb system farmers were at least guaranteed an average pooled price for their grain that reflected the world price less freight and a fair margin for the grain companies. Was it perfect? No. But at least we were only 1.25/bu under world price, now we are 2.50/bu under world price plus movement and cash flow are no better than with the cwb.

                    Lots of work to do.

                      Few people in Western Canada are happy the way some actors have taken advantage of the grain growers... My MP included... And many others without question.
                      Making good policy is like making babies.
                      Some folks don't want anyone to know what is about to happen.., even when it is obvious something is about to be, and is in birth pains!

                      Babies do not come to term over night... And this one has a somewhat longer gestation period.

                        I may be wrong but are the grain companies secretly smiling. Railways are not moving all the grain and it is not efficient to move it by truck to there is a perpetual surplus of grain in the country therefore basis is always wider than it should be. Grain cos can make a bigger margin on a smaller volume.....

                        On the other hand there are major logistical issues at the ports and crushers are having problems moving oil and meal so maybe its bitter sweet for grain cos. One thing is for sure its all bad for farmers.
