Few people in Western Canada are happy the way some actors have taken advantage of the grain growers... My MP included... And many others without question.
Making good policy is like making babies.
Some folks don't want anyone to know what is about to happen.., even when it is obvious something is about to be, and is in birth pains!

Babies do not come to term over night... And this one has a somewhat longer gestation period.

I may be wrong but are the grain companies secretly smiling. Railways are not moving all the grain and it is not efficient to move it by truck to there is a perpetual surplus of grain in the country therefore basis is always wider than it should be. Grain cos can make a bigger margin on a smaller volume.....

On the other hand there are major logistical issues at the ports and crushers are having problems moving oil and meal so maybe its bitter sweet for grain cos. One thing is for sure its all bad for farmers.

        Bgmb,

Not knowing when grain will meet ships is expensive for end users. Gaps in supply are expensive... Just when folks adjust to late shipping... They show up early... Then everything is upside down again.

The world in general is run on schedule and expects the same from Canadian grain Logistics.
        Big discounts if we fail...

Sell the wheat for 9... minus demurrage...late fees, etc...etc... and need to make up for earlier sales that had a narrow basis... with the same costs.

No Silver Lining on bad logistics... just a long string of unhappy people... who are stuck.
