So by extension it's ok for anyone to invade another person's house for shits and giggles.

I don't condone what's going on over there but it's not our place when we have plenty of problems here.

Yes we have problems here. But they are not life and death issues, they are first world problems.

Over there, people are cutting off innocent peoples heads, crucifying them, stoning them, throwing them off of buildings, lighting them on fire.

How can a country with the means to help, sit idly by? How can we not give the help we can?

Canada is not a "peaceful" country historically. We have stepped in time and time again when wrongs are committed, when humans are dying.

This is about extending an existing mission of airstrikes on a bunch of brutal muslims who are worse than wild animals. Saving human life is a moral obligation, IMO.

I can imagine if your family was being crucified, being lit on fire, that you would hope for outside intervention in some capacity, if our own country men were not equipped to help.

Western Canada is overproducing unwanted crops like HRS, trying to pack them out of the middle of a huge land mass on pretty well one rail line. I am not sure there is a very easy answer to this issue, when we will still smash the inputs on, reaching for maximum yield. We will seed every acre whether it makes economic sense or not.

In the other thread about the auction sales, guys were oohing and awing about the price of a quad track or two. And then the next thread they are panicking because grain is not moving.

I am panicking too, but I am not looking at auction sale results with envy or shopping for a good deal, at the same time my bins are full of grain that won't move.

What should Harper do? Pull the few planes out of Iraq, and then put a limit on inputs this spring, so that we produce LESS for once?

Where is Ken Goudy? He had the actual answer to this riddle.

Yes, it is a middle east issue, on that I agree. I wish those people would just sort through it themselves. But when a brutal bunch of losers, are killing innocent people in the manner in which they are, I feel we must morally try to help out.

So getting rid of the hells angels would be a good idea as well?

Iraq's issues have been going on for generations. Cut of the weapons supply and you will make a dent in some of this.

But the factions keep changing sides. That's why it should be left alone.

Correct the billionaires making $$$ supplying arms to both sides! We are the idiots to allow that.
Fight is centuries old, will never be resolved.

I agree. The issue will not be resolved EVER, by humans at least.

But I still think as humans, we need to try and help out.

Well said Freewheat. Neville chamberlain and most of Europe had the same idea of pacifism with regards to hitler. Where did that end up? You let the Middle East fester on its own and let innocent people get butchered and let Islam radicalize more a bigger threat to western civilization emerges. Everyone thinks the US started it all but radical Islam has been on autopilot for a crash course with the west. Twin towers et al. We can stick our head in the sand and say let them kill themselves but when it starts affecting us it is our problem. I wish the un didn't turn into an insipid left leaning joke it is now. They lost their credibility when bush didn't listen to them with the Iraq deal. Take it how you will. Bush was prick for not heeding their opposition. He essentially killed the un.

                  Freewheat

Read my lips NO foreign country has ever solved the problems in the Middle East. Turkey, Iran Jordan etc etc have to take this on not Canada USA Britain etc etc.

Russia invaded Afganistan and lost. George W Bush invaded Iraq and over threw Hussam and now we have ISIS. Do you honestly think by Canada dropping bombs in Iraq and Syria this is going to stop them? Harper is even thinking about putting boots on the ground. IF that happens what will you think when our soldiers start coming home in body bags.

This is Harper's way of distracting the Budget from being tabled, and keeping Canadians mind's off of the poor economic outlook that is going to hit hard very soon. Harper loves to distract and divide Canadians he has done it from day one. Let the real issues at hand be pushed aside.

Freewheat you were joking about your post anyways right?

Valk, you must have your grain sold and shipped or maybe you don't farm? This is a great productive nation and it's being strangled, IMHO. Government has the power to fix- but chooses to go and run around the world "fixing" a problem that will never be fixed. Sorry, but you don't make the rules on AV. Or have you bought it?

But would this be happening in the middle east, if the US hadn't interfered to begin with?

So if Harper is mad at Putin for Invading Ukraine (called it fighting terrorism)
Then how can he go in Iraq and Syria against Nato wishes. WHAT is the Difference between the two scenarios ???
