          Interesting observations
          Canada is part of NATO.
NATO expects us to do our part... Within reason.
Our munitions used by Canadian Forces are paid for by other NATO partners, not the Canadian taxpayer.
We need to be aligned with western countries obviously NATO is the only real option.

Have a good evening and sleep well knowing your farm is safe because the fine fighting men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces are truly ready at a moments notice defending our wonderful Canada!

Contrary to Tom's claims, as of March 22, 2015 NATO has no formal role in fighting ISIS. The coalition against ISIS is US led.

"But NATO has had no formal role to date in fighting ISIS." The Canadian Press Posted: Mar 22, 2015 6:51 PM ET|

Although Tom may be right about other countries paying for munitions our forces use in NATO missions seeing as at last fall's NATO summit meeting NATO leaders were asking all member countries to commit 2% of their GDP to defense spending but Canada only spends 1% of GDP on defense.

PM MARKS SUCCESSFUL VISIT BY NATO SECRETARY GENERAL TO CANADA.

                  Ottawa, Ontario
                  23 March 2015
                  Introduction

Prime Minister Stephen Harper held a productive meeting with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who was visiting Ottawa today.

During the visit, Prime Minister Harper and Secretary General Stoltenberg discussed key issues facing the Alliance and its partners, including NATO’s response to Russian military aggression in Ukraine. They also discussed the threat posed by the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) to Canada and its allies, the horrors that ISIL has inflicted on innocent civilians in Iraq and Syria, and the acts of terrorism it is supporting and inspiring in other parts of the world. In this context, they discussed Canada’s role in the U.S.-led Coalition’s efforts to disrupt ISIL and the Alliance’s central importance in ensuring security, building stability and responding to future threats.

The Prime Minister reiterated Canada’s commitment to continue to work closely with NATO and its allies on the important defence and security issues that affect the Euro-Atlantic region.

                  Quick Facts

Prime Minister Harper last met with Secretary General Stoltenberg at the NATO Summit in Newport and Cardiff (Wales), United Kingdom, in September 2014. This is Mr. Stoltenberg’s first official visit to Canada since becoming Secretary General of NATO.
Canada is a founding member of NATO. Since its inception in 1949, NATO has been a central pillar of Euro-Atlantic defence and a cornerstone of Canadian defence and security policy.
During their meeting, Prime Minister Harper outlined Canada’s robust contribution in the fight against ISIL, noting that as of March 18, 2015, Canadian air assets have conducted 643 sorties over Iraq – including 51 airstrikes and 117 reconnaissance and surveillance missions. He also highlighted Canada’s international leadership as a top humanitarian donor for both the Iraq and Syrian crises given our providing of substantial assistance for women, children, and religious and ethnic minorities.
Canada has played a significant role in NATO operations in Afghanistan, Libya and the Balkans, and continues to provide modern, deployable capabilities to allied missions and highly trained personnel to NATO’s command structure.
Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has highlighted the continued importance of assuring the security of the Alliance. As part of the Alliance’s response to Russia’s aggressive behaviour, Canada has contributed to NATO Assurance Measures by deploying air, land and maritime forces to promote security and stability in Eastern and Central Europe.
Canada has been at the forefront of the international community’s response to the situation in Ukraine. On September 4, 2014, Prime Minister Harper announced support for NATO partner Ukraine through the NATO Trust Funds, with a focus on building up Ukrainian command and control and communications and computer capabilities. In addition, Canada is contributing to three NATO Centres of Excellence in the Baltic region – on Cyber Security, Energy Security and Strategic Communications – to help Baltic States strengthen the regional framework for addressing the crisis situation. Canada has also been providing military training and non-lethal equipment to the Ukrainian government.
                  Quotes

“It was a pleasure to once again meet with Secretary General Stoltenberg to discuss pressing issues, including Russia’s invasion and illegal occupation of Ukraine as well as the need for ongoing cooperation in the fight against terrorism. Canada remains steadfast in our support for and contributions to NATO operations during these uncertain times.” – Prime Minister Stephen Harper

“We had very good discussions on current security challenges and NATO's continued adaptation to meet them. Canada is a committed ally and a capable contributor to international security. We appreciate your quick decision to deploy forces, planes and ships to strengthen our collective defence in view of Russia's aggressive actions in Ukraine, as well as your contribution to the international anti-ISIL coalition. Canada plays a major part in our decision-making and helps keep the vital bond between Europe and North America strong.” – Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General

I note a NATO appreciation for the role Canada is now committed to in the international community... contrary to your projection that this Canadian commitment is based on personal political gain.

it is the same tactic used before .
                    distraction and fear.
i am proud and a little surprised that agriville caught on so quick

                    ah the good old days

Under sadam Iraq was our second largest wheat customer.

then Bush does what Harper is doing now.
sticks his nose in subjects , of which he knows nothing.
                    which creates our current mess.

i was just in the UK and even with them takeing more crap from isis.
                    than canada.
there is not the attitude Harper has.
( remember Harper was praying for canada to go into iraq with bush the last time.)

Harper can not spend a dime to fix our research our , transportation problems.
But will spend 100s of millions
blowing holes in a sand pile 8,000
                    miles away.

if we are serious about stopping isis , stop supplying them with the tools of war.
or is there too much money to be made?

there will always be some religious crazy's around the world has to deal with.
i just hope our PM is not one of them.

So Harper met with the head of NATO. As a member of NATO I hope our PM meets with NATO leaders occasionally. But this does not make the ISIS fight a NATO mission. Read again the last line of the second paragraph in what you posted Tom... US LED!
No question Canada has supported NATO in Afghanistan, Libya, and the Balkans but NATO is not involved in ISIS now so quit trying to justify Harper's war as a NATO commitment.

Tom4cwb only recites what he receives by fax as speaking points from the PMO.

He can not seperate the true facts on the issue at hand from the propaganda he receives from the Harper Conservatives.
