It's a buyers market, only when supply is short will farmers have the advantage. Grain buyer told me, too bad for us but it's their turn to make a buck or millions.

Mr Farmer should be paid 2 to 5 % per month after the the delivery date. That is done everywhere else in business so why can't it be applied here

Spot pricing with immediate delivery, whats that?

Lack of demand or demand throttled by marketing and logistics dysfunction? Chicken or egg? Cause and effect....

Freewheat, good thinking. A person has to be agile. The big, efficient, high volume system belongs to that farm management style.
                Differentiate.
Historically, the hog market has had its ups and downs, bankruptcies etc . So, you may want to find an acconts recievable insurance company that may handle your deliveries. market Power Assurance, Atradius, Euler Hermes, or EDC.
The cash value of your deliveries may not be "big" enough for some of these companies to cover with A/R insurance , so you may want to make some type a strategic alignment with FarmLead who qualifies their buyers.

                  Now that was worth something...

Unfortunately there is still a lot of grain that needs the "conventional" system.

I am just trying to provide some insight. Everybody has their own style of farming. I dont look at things as good or bad. I look at the management style and then try to figure out what works and does not work.
My father in law had some very poor light land. I recall him saying that the majority of his revenue would walk off the farm on 4 legs.

BFW don't sign contracts that don't have a performance penalty. You aren't any where connected with farming are you. Ah its a lovely contract if farmer A doesn't deliver the product he is charged to fill contract by market. If elevator doesn't take product in time it has a three month extension no cost to elevator.
Ah its a real nice contract one sided I would say. Brought to you by All grain companies.

                        BFW

Just put a line thru any grainco contract with your own comments.

They will void the contract pronto.

                        Been there done that.

Any major changes in graincos contracts have to be legislated by the government. They won't go there.

My MP Anderson called yesterday. Says he's hearing great things in the country for grain movement.

Tells me to use the market. Told him I do forward sign but graincos take delivery late. What's the sense. The longer the graincos push deliveries the longer the wide basis stays.

He couldn't wrap his head around it.

Basis levels have narrowed in the states because they are getting current.

It's like I was talking to a brick wall.

                        He's campaigning not listening.

SF3, if we are to contract they must be more fair, not the ones currently used. Quit signing the ones as they exist. I think we are in agreement.

If that is typical of the MP's, we are screwed. They don't believe thousands of farmers, or think we are dummies. HOW out of touch can Gov get? Need a real ass kicking into reality, but HOW?

Bf I have a question. How do they do it in Alberta can you pull up to a elevator and just dump or same at a crusher. Maybe a feedlot takes if mom and pop but doesn't a big feed lot book lots and you deliver. Just curious.

Geez, the way I see it, is if you want to sell grain in this part of Western Canada, you have to sign a contract.
