Are you gaining weight on your hunger strik? Maybe you pal Harper and Duffy can go on it to. They could lose a few pounds to and then they won't have to bill taxpayers for a makeup artist.
Tom the NDP are not charged with anything. Harper's Main fund raiser Duffy is in court charged after an RCMP investigation. Mike Duffy's is on trial on 31 charges of fraud, breach of trust and bribery. It seems to me that Harper is the guilty party by appointing Duffy as a Senator from PEI when he is not a resident of PEI and has lived in Ottawa for most or his life

Have said it before that a political correction happens every few years for the long term benifit of the country. We are about to see a political correction. Harper has shown poor judgment when appointing buddies.

              Tweety

You can't hold a government responsible.

Mostly because the people that get elected won't take responsibility for anything but a gold plated pension.

Half the conservative mps now have enough time in to live off taxpayers for the rest of their lives and haven't accomplished **** all or accepted any responsibility.

Only way I see holding government responsible is have a 1-2 term limit so they have to live with the laws they pass. This horseshit of being elected for 20-30 years is getting old. Is breeding corruption into the system. Kick these asshats out after 4 years. Doesn't seem to matter what color, federal provincial or municipal they all need the boot or it turns into a career of self interest the Senate is prime example. I have no idea how to get such a bill passed but maybe the Senate debacle will provoke change if there's enough torches and pitchforks on parliament hill

You had better look at your sources and check out who they work for! The NDP make Duffy look like a novice!

Macdon, you don't need legislation you just need an electorate wise enough to know how democracy is supposed to work.
Use the ballot box to elect a Government, preferably with a very slim majority, and sling them out the next time around if they are no good. Don't be frightened to elect the opposition of whatever stripe they may be - worst case scenario you have them until the next election.
It's how it works in many other countries. Just seems to me that the Canadian voter is either too complacent or doesn't understand their role in the democratic process. WE ultimately hold the power not the politicians but the more people that don't vote, and don't vote smartly, the more the power is handed to the politicians.

Saskatchewan is full of people that have never marked a ballot any different than their parents always did. Now take Quebec they will swing on a minute.Parties pay way more attention to the seats that can be bought. Harper knows the farmer vote is always in the bag so no need to listen to things like transportation problems. The biggest worry in Ottawa today is How many ex Conservative MPs will the Railway companies hire.

That's why we would better off with a liberal or ndp minority.

Vanclief eventually came to the table for farmers. But I don't think any party gets off their ass quicker.

The bureaucrats need to study everything into a pension for themselves first.

Until we have elected people telling bureaucrats what to do instead of the other way around this country is not going forward.

tweety, a smart vote is one cast by a person who understands how to vote tactically in the pursuit of a better functioning democracy.
