The future is here. Will you embrace it?

Technology has made the world very small indeed.

I find more and more ads like this all the time...

The ability to skip the middlemen is there. Will you take advantage of it?

We will... To much money in handling and processing of grains to not start taking part of the pie.

It is all fun until you don't get paid.

You do realize this guy likely works at best buy but has a friend who knows someone that could sell the malt.

You wouldn't have a sniff of a chance of getting a/r insurance on a guy like this.

Not Saying that's the one you should do... saying there's hundreds if not more of offers like that on international clearing houses like Alibaba.

Knowledge of international trade and commerce is important in this case.

For one thing, LC's cost more but are critical at least until you get a feel for the buyer.

Our wheat that went to China went off without a hitch....

I does not hurt to ask, or follow up and ask some questions.
It is pretty awesome how one farmer makes a suggestion and then another farmer automatically finds fault with it. Usually you can tell which farmer is more comfortable in life and which one is striving to do better.
Some buyers will pay in full before delivery. You will never know unless you are asking those questions.

my experience is the farmer/supplier will sign a contract then burn you for $0.25/bushel before the buyer will.

You need my cleaner and your off to the races. You might win or lose but unless you do it you don't learn a thing.
            Have a go.

Hobby, you are right, but as a glance up at my bulletin board and see a cattle cheque from 2003 tacked there NFG, from a livestock dealer who was in business for years, my first thought was the same as LEP. Be very careful, it is sometimes not the guy you are dealing with that is the problem, but it is the guys he is dealing with that can be the problem. I have found that over the years of watching Dragon's Den, that alot of times the idea is good, but it is what is behind the idea that is the problem.

I have embraced the future, but I think in a more safe way. Klause, were you not going to try some timothy hay? Load up your semi with small squares, and take them over the mountains to the Fraser Valley, and drop them off there at a few barns for 15 bucks a bale.

I am working on markets for our lambs that would make your head spin!

I think your idea is great. I agree you gotta hook up with a safe partner, but you are on the right track...

Letters of Credit, you say Klause? That's your guarantee that you will get paid?

Get it paid to a lawyer in trust before you ship a bushel. IF that doesn't happen, move on.

Precisely..... L/C from an international or Canadian bank..... RBC is pretty good

                      Escrow is another option...

Except if the lawyer is some crooks friend, which you have no way of knowing. Even bank managers have been known to cater to their clients. LOC are not a sure thing by any stretch of the imagination, in my experience. Au contraire!

bgmb. I do not think heads up by guys is the equal of saying it won't work. Some of us have been burnt, and do not wish for this to happen to Klause. We want him to succeed. I hope he doesn't take slight warnings as saying there is no way it will work.

Don't think the risk factor is as bad as some think.

Often thought the two way street would be great if you could receive inputs(fert,Chem) to the same guy you export to,but have never been able to find a company like that on those sites.

Jeez to bad we didn't have a Canadian Western Brokerage to handle this sort of stuff.
