Friday maybe for start probably next monday!

Well we missed the shit snow storm, TG is all I have to say. But after being out in the field on the weekend playing in sloughs its easy to see we need another week to get going and not have any issues.
One thing that isn't happening in our area is warm nights. Wow did it drop off the map this last weekend.
I have some seeds that I put in the garden to see if they can grow last Tuesday and their still sitting their.
So really is this a spring that getting out early is going to have some issues.
We have had it before where canola seeded on the 15th of May came up just out of the ground and then was froze black by one night of cold 10 days later.
Worst feeling is going out and reseeding a field that you already seeded just because you jumped the gun.
I read last week how Alberta Ag was talking about early seeding problems.
Does crop insurance cover guys who go out now and find that their early seeding date caused them to lose a crop. Or make a crop really late because they had to reseed it.
Each area is different but for ours it looks like we wont be getting going till next Monday due to cold wet ground. Cold nights and some days.
What are others finding. Now yes one has to know their normal start time for their area. Were may 4th to 7th as a 20 year average. 10 miles West its May 2 to 5th and so on.
But the only thing that looks to cause some delays this week is the storm that will track over us Thursday.
Time will tell but at least the moisture seems to have a new place to go. Maybe the line moved another 60 miles West.

If I go from today till Thursday it wont work as ground still has frost and muddy plus still odd spot with snow. But yes if a day long rain event happens on Thursday it could really delay.

          S. Mb could use a nice shower. A lot of cereals in already. Corn starts this week, canola later this week.

There was 8 inches of fresh white snow on the ground near Saskatoon yesterday. Someone, please send the spring reminder memo to Mother Nature.

                  Saskatoon was dry.

Next Monday would be a great day to start.

Monday is a target day for a lot here. Today was on the list for early risers but snow/cold tempered that enthusiasm .

Thursday might delay that start as well.

We generally don't "pick" a day, just roll whenever we are ready and mother nature either allows us or pushes us lol.

If all goes well I'm looking at May 11 for start day. May be a little earlier but 7-10 is my average start. Two years ago it was the 17th and was done in time.

Next Monday we can start if it doesn't rain or snow!
