katoe, you are right about using our money. The link I posted to the Rona Ambrose comments - that was from a press conference at the Royal Alex hospital in Edmonton. Ambrose is Federal health minister - so the taxpayer is paying her to meddle with provincial politics to promote the Conservative cause.
    Totally inappropriate.

The good news is that the main beneficiary if AB votes NDP, will be Saskatchewan.

In Alberta we spend more per capita than any other province in Canada on government services. The NDP believes in the government playing a larger role in our lives and they want to tax big business and the wealthy higher to pay for it. I am not wealthy or a big business but I don't believe my children and grandchildren should still be paying for the benefits I receive today. I believe the NDP will lead to bigger government, more taxes and more debt. Why does this make me a redneck?

You might be a redneck if:

You blame the high spending on Government services by the PCs after 44 years in power on the NDP who aren't in power. LOL

I was not in any way defending or excusing the PC's. I thought the question was why Albertans should fear the NDP. I have not voted for the PC's in the last 3 elections and do not intend to in this election. There are two areas I think taxes should change. One is royalties on oil. You can only collect this once so it would seem reasonable that we shouldn't give our oil away. Secondly a sales tax, for every 1% Alberta would collect 1 billion dollars in revenue. This along with a better managed government should help erase our debt.

"NDP" and "Alberta" don't belong in the same sentence.

I agree with you Hamloc on your solutions to raise income and cut expense. How can you vote to reflect that though as neither the PCs or the WR are prepared to tax the two items you raised?

Further to my other link that Randy couldn't open we have a fine display of the culture of entitlement and corporate cronyism in Alberta.
The 5 businessmen who came out threatening that they wouldn't be able to contribute to charity if the NDP got elected. Here are the quotes from one of them followed by their press release reporting record profits for the 4th quarter of 2014.

"Tim Melton, executive chairman of Melcor Developments, said NDP governments “do not understand how economies work” and that Alberta’s Tories have provided “very solid government.

“I don’t understand the unhappiness and disenchantment that appears to be out there,” said Melton, who has donated $41,812.50 to the Tories since 2010 personally and through his company, plus $3,500 to Prentice’s campaign. “We don’t need amateurs running this province through these difficult times ... we’ve got to stay with the government that has got us to where we are today.”

Melcor Developments and Melcor REIT have received $4.3 million in government contracts since 2012, government records show. The company is also lobbying the government for help in approving commercial and residential developments."

                      www.melcor.ca/file/mrd-q4-2014-press-release-pdf

Interesting too that they chose to show their concern via highlighting how their contribution to charity would be hit yet didn't bother to hold a press conference to highlight any concern about the Government proposal to cut the charitable tax benefit just a few weeks ago.

I'm a capitalist entrepreneur not a socialist but I'm embarrassed to be associated with these fellow capitalists.

All righty then. Sounds like Mr. Melton has this profession economics thing figured out. His return on investment is running at a wonderful level. Even if you only consider a ten per cent profit on his 4.3 mil in contracts... Maybe he should be running the show here in Alberta.

Why are we scared of the ndp - because there is very little difference between a union employee and an Indian except union get paid more, if they would dig into how corrupt it is in manitoba with under the table handouts since the ndp got into power it would make Duffy look like a choir boy. We need poeple working and contributing to Canada.

All depends on who is leading the ndp party in question. In Manitoba Garry doer was the leader prior to current leader Greg selinger. Doer was center left as was ok. Selinger makes Stalin look look like Reagan.
