Hi,
For testing, the first step we take is to get a representative sample from you shipped to us, and we do a strip test which gives us a rough idea if the canola is acceptable or not. If the strips test completely clear, we are 95% sure there won't be a problem.
Then, we get 14,000 bu in the bin, and send in a sample fro the entire bin. This test costs us about $500, and we pay for the test, regardless of results.
If the test comes back OK, we have it written in our contract that we are obligated to pay the premium within 5 days of results, and we will.
If the bin is rejected, we have to put that canola into our regular GMO production bin, and we cannot use it for production of non-GMO canola.
Upon delivery, we'll pay you the price available at the Louis Dreyfus terminal in Joffre, which is closest to the plant.
As far as verifying it at the bin, we can only do the strip test to get a rough idea if it's acceptable or not. We cannot send a sample to the lab from your samples because under the non-GMO procedures, we have to take the samples ourselves for all incoming grain going into our bins. The Non-GMO requirements are very specific, and we cannot waiver from their procedures.
Hope this helps!
