Wheat king your dead wrong, there is pride in ownership, I would much rather own the land I farm, maybe the whole province should be sold to Isis or the xhinese

Agree with mbratrud also. Liquidity imprtant.
But chinese farms shipping raw back home adds nothing. Farmland is not oil.

Phoenix you can own all the land you want no one is stopping you. You just have to pay a competitive price. Where did I say there is no pride in ownership? Who is stopping you from purchasing land? Should someone have to sell to you for some bargain just because you are from Sask? What I'm saying is you should be able to sell your property to who you want for what you want. The government should not be telling you who or how much your deal can be made of.

By the way the selling land to isis comment brings nothing constructive to this conversation.

Selling out to large investment companies does not help me or my son buy land, I have no problem paying a competitive price but when these entities sell their land it won't be to a farmer, but they will sell the entire block as a unit, which I can't afford to do. So we are forced to rent. The point I made of Isis, is to make people realize that we can lose control of this vital resource to the wrong interests. Try to think outside of the box and past what is just good for you

At least with some of these investment companies, start farms/those who want to grow will have access to land. Having big farms (5,000 plus acres or whatever) also takes that land out of smaller farms hands. These big farms will also sell in blocks.

Things are changing fast in agriculture. Sad thing to say but farmers will be competing with someone else is potentially better funded/has different investment priorities. Bad if you are buyer. Good if you are seller. Again comes to the question as to why are buying the land.

The first sentence implies rental land.

Phoenix aren't you telling me what's good for you and your son, and that should be good for everyone else then. Thanks for straightening me out. I'm not insulting you here I'm bringing another perspective to the table but you can't seem to accept that it's your way or no way. Then you resort to using isis on the conversation somehow.

The natives claim that this is all there land so maybe we should give it back to them and let them decide if it should be sold to the Chinese,CPP or whoever.

Sure then after they sell it they will cry how they got ****ed over and want it all back plus of course monetary damage payments for every and all generations forever.
