    Farm land ownership survey!

Its good but really whats stopping a million Chineese or who ever from logging in and doing the survey. A drivers licence or hospital card would have worked then you do the survey.
Really renters are just passing buy. Once you own farm land its yours know one can kick you off and no one can take it from you.
Borrowing to buy farm land is not that big of a deal if you have equity.
Oh equity is what you will need when the shitty years return or a few bad crops happen. The renter is easy to get rid of the bank calls him in and looks at his assets and then tells him to phone Richie's and he retires from farming.
Ownership by Saskatchewan farmers is the best way to keep this province strong.
Oh and on our two guys who are CANADIANs why do they live back home for 9 months and here in the summer.
    Ah their visiting.
Go at it because this is a real important decision.
Canada pension plan really why does the Gov of Canada need farm land.

Someday I'd like to read a short history of Saskatchewan. Try to understand why it has all these problems and drama.

I would say at the very least owners have to be a permanent resident. Requiring them to farm it themselves may be a bit nazi. If thats the case a whole bunch of beneficiaries of retiring or deceased farmers who want to pass their land on to their children better gear up to become farmers.

It's really easy to understand we are one of the Toughest places in the world to try to grow a crop! It's not about NDP socialism etc. it's about where most of us families came from! In Europe most farmers were serfs! So let's all go back to that system. Explain to me how a farmer who rents all his land after 3 to 5 poor or disasters crops continues farming. How does he get financing to continue basically he retires. there are other reasons why renting doesn't work but today's a seating day so let's hear all the answers why we should let billionaires buy up all the land.

The frustration I have with CPP buying land is there are guys that were forced out due to bad crops and are now working to finance land purchases thru their deductions.

They had the right investment 5to 10 years ago but no one would lend them money to make that last push thru. Now their hard earn money goes to finance over priced land.

These were good farmers but bad crops or the timing when they started pushed them out.

          Seems odd.

But I do keep emailing cppib to see if they will buy. Last time they referred me to assiniboa land.

Right on the sask party will slam the door on anyone but a sask farmer owning farm land? Be careful what you wish for because if they screw around with these socialist rules you will see the price of land down to where your net worth will not have much lending power. The guys who want these restrictive rules are the guys who want to buy more land for as cheap as possible then will want top dollar for their investment down the road. I have said it before, why should land be any different than a house or an automobile or groceries. Should we put restrictions on houses too? You cant buy a cabin at a lake in sask unless you are a permanent resident. More restrictive laws on farmland will hammer values and provincial growth and stability. We are in a time where most guys starting now are renting anyway.

I would think most start-up farmers aspire to own some of the land they farm. Some may go a whole career without owning but I wouldn't want to. At the current prices it is cheaper to rent than to buy, even with 25% down.

So, I guess farmers have to take the emotion of owning their business out of the business of farming?

I agree on all points Sask.
Curious what this will all look like in 100 yrs?

Not trying to derail thread. I don't know what Albertas laws are. There are no foreign investors in our area. The land was always cheaper your way. Long term yield stability. Not better, not even great but stable.
We certainly don't need a Foreign company owning farmland ever!

                    Unfortunate when the young guys(coming from farming parents) who want to make a living farming the land can't afford to buy it. Not saying I want to take less for my asset, just saying....;
