what is normal?
after 41 crops, the last 4-5 years were not normal, enough rain to grow
75- 90 -100 bushel of wheat, year after year if it was not drowned or flooded.
enough nice dry fall weather to get them off .
getting an extra month of frost free in the fall to mature a 90 bushel hrsw crop.
not normal
this is more normal, frost as a factor
just about any month, and drought more likley than too wet.
on the bright side here, we have soil reserve moisture, a big plus
cereals and peas up and running on the reserve. canola still a chance for a 1/2
decent crop . just a needs a 1/2 inch. and heat to outgrow the bugs.
but it is running out of lives

SF3, if you say conditions now are scary good, you couldn't have been wet for 8 to 10 years. I think you're full of shit. Or, you don't know wet. That's probably it. You don't get it. You don't know wet. Unless it's "at the lake".

Why argue about it. All I know is we never had it as bad as some and right now our low spots on our clay land are not drying up. Otherwise when it doesn't rain a significant amount every third day and the temps are high and humidity is at lows you wished you had at harvest, it is amazing how things can dry up. At least make seeding more "normal" and enjoyable. Other than the ****ing frosts here, things were good and still are, except for the damaged canola. Frost and flea beetles.

Brave we got a half inch last night across the whole farm ! Yes I know mud sorry you want to argue but this year is so good so far it is scary! Flooded areas are gone for years but we're not losing what was seeded and that's what you don't get! Tough to make a buck when you seed 4000 acres canola and give it all then harvest 3 or less because of one insane weekend of rain! That some still can't say really happened!
