Conditions can change pretty fast, but we need a hurricane or a volcano. That jet stream is not allowing the systems to come up here from Montana.

Mother Nature may inflict the "grow less for more money" policy without Producer approval. Unfortunately she picks winners and loser. Someone elses misfortune is somebody elses fortune. This could also cool the redhot land prices in some areas. Lets hope everyone gets what the need for successful year on their farm. Good luck everyone, its a big part of it. Take care.

yea you're right , I think it's about 90 % luck . we have a beautiful start here if it could just rain ! and no one is talking about the soy-canola complex or whatever it's called now that soy is going along for the ride with the canadian canola, "that has no bearing on prices " according to the experts . oh and canadian crushers will pay whatever they need to , same as we seed crops with no hope of making money other than a wreck somewhere

One lich last week 1/2 Monday and 1/2 Friday night. This type of rain makes grain . This is a normal year.
Don't some of you realize some times no rain till farm progress show one or two times July 1 or 3.
Wheat roots going down and canola might not be a pretty crop.
But it's early let's see what happens. Their is no sure crop area in Canada. Mother Nature runs the show.
It is extremely dry up at the lake. Reseeded stuff up that way might sit in the dirt till first major rain.

1.5 milliliters in the last month and a half in the Canora to Kamsack area. 1000's upon 1,000s of reseeded canola sitting in the dust. We are in an area if canola dont yield 45 bushels plus an acre, its a crop failure. Same as wheat, if it don't yield 50 plus, its a crop failure. Wheat that got hit by frost is just starting to perk up a bit. If no rain in the next 5 days, its also doomed. In the parkland area, there are sloughs and creeks that look as dry as they would in the middle of August in a dry year. Going to be an interesting year for sure. Maybe if we spray another 20 bucks an acre of micro ****ing nutrients, the crop will come back...so say the chemical companies. Yep...another magic pill coming to you soon.

Kold, I will do herbicides without any disease potion in the tank mix. There is very little humidity here and not alot, if any, dew in the mornings. Herbicides should be looked at as a long term deal, clean up when you can, not all crops have good options. Get rid of the competition for what little moisture(in some cases) that is there. No spraying for disease just because. Unless we get some humidity going there will be little pressure.

I own the acres I farm, mismanaging will "own"ly hurt me in the end.

Lots of lentils not getting broadleaf spray- fear of hurting them more than they already are.
I doubt the wheat will see much spray either

Sounds like a pretty big area that's dry.

SF3, you've got about an inch more rain then most.

But the ignorant prick says all western canada normal .
Again I am glad they are in a sweet spot , they had a tough go , but to call this weather pattern normal - s/f has just lost all credibility with me - that's just fukin stupid
99% of us know you where far far too wet - you told us every fukin day - some of us including me seen it first hand - I drove through your area the last two years - that was terrible - but your holier than thouw attitude is fukin sickning at this point .
Do you know that leaf hoppers are already in mass in your area ? Not wishing ill on anyone but don't bark too loud - it's only the second inning . ...

Environment Canada shows an odd phenomenon. Sort of looks like clouds coming down from the North, The Great White North.

Furrow why so pissed at me. Im just saying whats happening in our area. Yes its been 8 years of pure hell. When you plant only to have it die from excess water year in year out a year with not much moisture is kind of exciting. I don't wish harm on any farmer out their but gee why cant we get a break once. If you have 8 droughts in a row call we can discuss how well the fed program worked for you and how crop insurance deals with you and how you get to a point you just want to quit.
Have any of you never received rain till farm progress show in the entire time you farmed. Have any of you had to reseed and grain is sitting in dust and then finally it rains July 1 sty or 3rd.
My point being yes the dry area is getting a little bigger than I ever though and it looks really bad. But 8 to 10 years of excess water for one area was not normal. That's all Im trying to point out. Yes 80% of you on here made out like bandits with great prices and high yields that most never seen before and we got shit all and missed the boat.
So yes I as a farmer never like to see other areas get F$%Ked but really cant it just be our areas turn for some good fortune.
Mother nature can F%^K up our area real fast also.
Yes your right I'm strong spirited and tell it like it is. But Crop experts and Chem and fert and Seed still cant grow without water.
So lets quit arguing and I hope every one gets a good No great crop because its sure would be nice.

In central Alberta I would describe the conditions as hot and dry. I do find your pissing matches amusing but the fact is pastures are burning up and the crops need rain.

SF3-Last year you whined and complained that no one had it as bad as you. Too wet. No crop. All is lost. On and on and on. Then you admit that your canola ran 32bu/ac. You lost all credibility in anything you say. You bring it on yourself. Tell it like it is? B.S.
