Pope Francis addresses Global Warming

Many on here have some strong opinions with regard to Climate Change or Global Warming. If you are a devoted Catholic or a person of strong faith here is what Pope Francis is saying:

"In the draft of the encyclical, Francis says global warming is “mostly” due to human activity and the burning of fossil fuels. He calls for a radical change in behaviour to save the planet for future generations and prevent the poor from suffering the worst effects of industry-induced environmental degradation."

I for one feel that Pope Francis is going to bring the Catholic church into the 21st century.

Is Pope Francis way off the mark or has he hit the nail on the head?

He is out to lunch. Way out to lunch. Glad I ain't catholic, or I would be kinda angry at him. Thankfully he has so little sway anymore generally.

Did I miss Pope Francis apologizing for the Residential School fiasco? Does climate change take precedence over racial and cultural genocide? Let's not forget buggery by priests.

I'm always suspicious of the climate change scare mongers for the reason that few are sincere. It's often a tactic of the anti corporate wingnuts.

The Church of Rome has enough to worry about without jumping on the climate wagon. I mean besides the above there's the Inquisition, the cultural **** and looting of New Spain, etc. The put down of women through the ages and continued denial that Mary Magdelene and Jesus were married. (Somewhere in the Vatican Library the truth must exist).

In short Forage, though I think the planet needs our help, we don't need the Church of Rome involved.

I mentioned once the Ancestors passed down a good recipe for cooking Jesuits. Nowadays, that would release too much carbon into the atmosphere.

Come on Braveheart your an independent thinker, let's forget about what the Pope said, can you honestly say that with 7 BILLION people on earth that the eventual out come is not going to be good for the blue planet base on path humans are on?

Freewheat, so in your mind human activities are not effecting the planet. Earth will be able to sustain the population growth and current industrial activities and there will be not effect what so ever?

What I polluted burning flax straw this spring won't be exhausted out of any tractor I own for decades of use.

Now add in a few lightning started forest fires.

So I think some people are misguided.

Forage,the eventual outcome is probably out of my hands. I personally can do nothing to influence the real enviro villains, those being the Chinese and India.

Burdening the Western already beleaguered middle class with carbon taxes, tier whatever engines that don't run well at all, and throttled down Western industries that ultimately cause job loss and rising consumer prices will do little.

But, I do believe in a personal response. Things that are within our control. We grow lots of perennial forages which bank carbon. We practice zero till which also sinks carbon. Also every year we plant trees.

The thing is though, one volcano blows and there's more stuff in the atmosphere than human activity would cause in untold years.

Forage, Regarding the Pope, why forget what he said? You brought up the subject as what the Pope said.

On sustaining 7 billion, Malthusians have been predicting over population for 200 years, and they probably will for another 200. Same old story, nothing new under the sun.
