Hopefully, if it does ever get precariously close to freezing, there is enough radiant heat to ward it off. Spraying must be a challenge.
The stakes (economics of growing a crop) are ridiculously high for this and all other kinds of risk. Risk management would barely keep you in the game.

At a meeting Working with AFSC Crop Ins yesterday and the Olds AB area We had down to -6C Monday morning along with -2C in Three Hills I reported earlier this week. He said Canola is mostly further along and may regrow from roots in more mature stands that are well past initial codeledon stage when young Canola is most sensitive to frost.

Regina says 6 overnight low. Our weather station says 4 for a couple of hours starting at 4:30.
A bit of dew on the vehicles. A good sign in my books.

Some canola crops being reseeded to other things last week and this around Rimbey, AB. Never seen that before. We haven't had frost since May 24th, earlier than our usual last frost date. Just poor, patchy crops that seem to be struggling. The cereal crops look fine. Just not a canola year?
