Bottom line is most farms are multi million dollar operations that if allowed to fail will come crashing down having a huge negative economic impact on many others. Most small farms ie. less than 6000 acres do not have a large enough impact so it really doesn't matter how many of them bite the dust. For the most part these small farms under 6000 acres are managed by conservative farmers who run older used equipment and do not over extend themselves. But there are many of farms that are significantly larger and carry a huge debt load and employ a lot of people. If this drought forces them into difficulty, which it will, the impact will be huge.
Do any of you small farmers (under 6000 acres in size) really think the little bit of business you do with any dealer whether inputs or machinery, makes much difference to them. If you stop buying so what. You might do a great job of managing and survive a downturn but you don't spend f all compared to the big boys. You don't feed the monster, the big guys who take big risks do and that is who needs to be protected by government intervention!!!

Who are you protecting? The banks , FCC CPP , those that invest in these high risk operations ! Why, they know the risks?

Some of these large operations advertise how smart and efficient they are, i.e. New Holland Smart. Well let them prove it without picking my pocket.

That makes you a fascist or a communist Cuban you pick they both come from hell.

How blind is everyone not see how fundamentally screwed our economy is. No free market no sound money socialists and fascists marching down the street stealing everything from everyone and in their minds thinking its right.

We are about to hit the wall and the blame game starts when alls they need to do is look in the mirror.

If a farm 6000 or less is a small farm, WTH is a 2000 acre farm that is profitable for a family of six? Irrelevant?

I guess so. Under 6000 a small farm. lololololol. Every one of my dozen young neighbors is a small farm, most of them half the size of the alleged, "small farm". lol

Maybe the "big farms" should take some pointers from us, mini-irrelevant-useless-loser farms.

Wow, I probably fall into the rinky dink farm category - hell I even pitch some bales lol

I know I mean f-all to input suppliers, and to be honest some times I leave there thinking how good of service I do get for the little I buy.

Given your last response cuban, I feel even less sorry for the "big" guys.

Lots of people in the oil patch without jobs, shit happens...

Seems a lot of common sense went out the window on this last grain run, and I sure am not paying for it. Number one step in risk management is manage your balance sheet relative to your outlay.

Don't want to sound like a total dink, but this could turn into a better opportunity than I thought.

To answer your question. Yes I think us "small" guys have a huge impact on sales, because if we are not treated well, word travels fast among us. I deal with input people who do go the extra mile no matter who you are, or how big you are. It just doesn't matter to them. And that is how it should be.

Saying the guys who take risks and expand need a payout more, is just totally unreal. Often they are the stupidest risk takers of all.

I guess I get what cub is trying to say. I just dont agree with the logic.
Bail out GM but not any small cap oil gas producer. Fact is the acres themselves arent going anywhere. Economic spin off remains same. Applying 80/20 rule would bail out Gary Pike. Suppliers find the non Pikes more reliable. So do your small towns.

10-4, cattleman. Thanks for joining the conversation. I am not positive this cuban guy is not trolling with comments like that!
