Just a note the CWB October PRO was released today. Details can be found at:
http://www.cwb.ca/db/contracts/pool_return/pro.nsf/WebPRPub/2002_20021024.html
I like to compare to the Producer pricing options daily quotes:
http://www.cwb.ca/db/contracts/ppo/ppo_prices.nsf/fixed_price/2002_index.html
As a note, the basis for 1CWRS 13.5 would have been have been $33/t over if fixed price contracts were still being offered - PRO $312/t, converted Dec. MGE price $276/t, Discount for risk, interest and admin $3/t. The converted MGE price on the Sept. PRO (Sept. 26) was $289/t.
I note there was no increase in malt barley as well. Conversations with the malt industry indicate there should be another $10 to $15/t in the malt barley PRO but not today. Perhaps this means the CWB is backing off on their sales prices to maltsters and allowing more leeway for direct premiums in the country. More questions than answers on this pricing pool.
