I can't properly defend the choice of a new stadium. But gate admission alone on 32K people @ an average $50 ticket pulls 1.6 million out of the economy. Food at the stadium, hotels and restaurants, people travelling for hours. And 10 games per season maybe the odd Play off game, every year for decades to come. Hosting the Grey Cup hopefully more than once per decade on average. Maybe afew big name bands stop.
The old one would have done the job but so would have my early 80's combines. Let's be patient and hopeful the governments see the economic problems a short crop will cause and maybe re-jig the support programs. It really isn't a "Primary Producer" subsidy after all, more of an Industry subsidy paid to Producers to disperse of to the rest of the Industry to keep the ball rolling.
