We need to have a rally at Mosaic stadium too! 30,000 farmers in support of each other. This would send a message to our elected mla's and mp's that injecting cash into the farmers pockets will help all in the economy. Or we could wait for a couple more years till things go to complete shit and do it anyway! Weather goes in cycles...... ten years of excess moisture now maybe ten years of below normal moisture. I wonder what will happen if 2015 is the turning point. Rally may be sooner than some of you think!

Maybe the great Western Canadian Farming Experiment isn't over yet? Opened up at the end of the 1800s, quarter section per family, many left the harsh environment, some died naturally(early and prematurely) and some died by their own hand. And some retired and sold or handed it down. To this day they still haven't found equilibrium.
Not enough people appreciate "not" being hungry. I have never been hungry because of there not being enough to eat. Full bellies can go a long way to keeping civil peace. Remember what the **** is important here: food, clothing, shelter and security.

This thread is not about agronomics, vvalk; it is clearly about financial sustainability. When every inch of land is cleared, and 100 bu/ acre crops are the norm, the input costs will continue to be a farmers' primary worry. Capice? So pack up your sense of high-vvalkoffence in your old kit bag, and smile smile smile, as the old song goes. Parsley.

I didn't get a check in '88, high interest fushed me out in '85/'86, and yes I left the "L" out of flushed on purpose.
Was flat busted with 3 kids.
If farming is no good, you can probably sell out for a decent price yet. Lots want to buy land and get into this very miserable business.

Interesting that some people that had cash thru high interest rates where money doubled in 4 years talk about saving money that if in a lifetime now wouldn't double.
So some guys that thought much like the CPPIB farming would be a good investment are told to save and live within their means.
Be interesting what happens to the taxpayer money within the CPPIB that hafe no one telling them that. Just back to the trough.

Maybe offside on some of that stuff Pars. Trades nurses teachers professionals sask power sask energy sask suck at the tit are doing quite well and if farming was so great why did everyone quit.
Lol remember i said some of that stuff go easy on me

If other small businesses don't enjoy all the fringe benefits of Primary Ag Producers, maybe they should try "enjoying" farming.

Being a "new farmer" and having eroding yields due to flood and hail over most of that time does not leave me with much for crop insurance coverage. I don't expect anything extra from the government but I wouldn't be sad to see crop insurance premiums waived this year on crops in a claim position. It's not much but it would take some of the sting out of what is highly abnormal weather event.

And you well understand, Cott, that the Sask power worker is depending upon his inflated pension to support his extravagant lifestyle (if comparing Canadian lifestyles to average world lifestyles). And that pension was padded with tax dollars. AS WELL AS BORROWED DOLLARS.
In other words, a pension that is unaffordable.
Ask Greece how that's working out for them.
Any person who thinks Canadians can lobby to fund themselves a better lifestyle via BORROWED DOLLARS that the taxpayer has to pay back, without suffering personal, regional and national consequences, is .... magnificently stupid.
I'll stand by that.
Parsley.
