    Canola Down ???

No rain and the C$ is down. Don't the market advisors say the price of Canola should be up, yet it is down $10 today ?? (still have a few bushels in the bin)

Got heary showers in S AB last Saturday night. Crop will be bigger than you think so I think the highs are in for now. We are getting wetter in the dry zone while the wet corn belt is drying out.

Crops going backwards through out the parkland region now . This was just a play off oil and soybeans

This was more than a play. Bears still in control. High US dollar partly due to money looking for a safe haven in the US (cite Greece, Ukraine) drives away demand. If you're a buyer right now your are probably backing away and that will drive futures lower IMO.

Demand will rule. Right now there's a lack of it no matter crop conditions.

Crusher: glad for you anyway that there is a positive. Our canola in Fort Sask. area is hanging in. Rain would still make bushels. Too late for a positive affect on cereal yield though. Maximum already set. Heard of $4.50 for feed barley today.

Frost at a normal time will fix everything and everybody. I d bet it would wipe out 50% of what is considered good.

Boy, you guys are an optimistic bunch, lol! I agree a lot of areas are hooped for 2015, here included. And the cattle guys, what can they do? If anyone was watching today, the TSX dropped about 200 shortly after opening largely due to the Stats Can report on a new record trade deficit last quarter, never mind Greece and China. Then rebounded when chief economists at major banks predicted a drop in the prime rate next week. Closed 31 points higher than opening today. So, volatility is the new standard. You guys with some crop potential be patient. There could be some real but short lived opportunities coming up.

Opportunities came around last week. Locked in our first new crop canola pricing on last week's spike at $12.50 per bushel. Now we just have to grow it.

Will wait for the combine, holding some 2014 for $12, never got there locally. Too risky, rain is so rare, crop will go backwards.
