Wal Mart oil vs. Federated Coop Oils

Fukin WalMart. I hate with a passion. If you value your equipment buy something good. Or go to Walmart and get your milk,diapers, condoms, bread and oil.

20 L has become 18.9L in many stores.

Same or more money.

We have used wal Mart oil for years, newer equipment, older equipment, no known problems.

Usually get the owner operator stuff.

We have JD, Coop in town so no problem buying when on sale each Feb for the year. I use Synthetic Amsoil in my VW that exceeds Mnfg spec.

Oil is the least expensive part of equip maint. especially if bought when on sale.

Coop oil in farm equipment and Mobil in pickups and semi.


Cat did a test with all the oils. Basically ran engines till they siezed from the oil additives being worn out.


Mobil and chevron were tied at the top. Coop petro can and she'll in the middle. Castrol and Walmart at the bottom.

Ran Walmart oil for years. Have sent several samples in to both Cat and the highly regarded Blackstone Labs in the U.S. All come back with top marks. Ran 15/40 in the 7.3 for 8000 miles and sent in to Blackstone to see if I had let it go too long. Report came back that plenty of additive still left and could push it further if I wanted.

I change oil in equipment every year, regardless of hours, because it is cheap. I've met a lot of people who go long periods without changing or with low oil because "it's too expensive". Those are the ones I don't want equipment from.
