    Wow MIdge Tonight

Walked to edge of wheat field at 8 oclock tonight, you could just see the little bastards all over on the heads. Good time to see if that Utmost is up to the test.

I am sure the Utmost will be fine, that is why I don't even look...

I wish I knew in advance what trait to plant.
      Sawfly tolerance
      Midge tolerance
      Fusarium "tolerance"

      No silver bullets folks.
Currently most of the farm's wheat is Shaw. Expanding Cardale. If the trend is dry I should have a sawfly resistant variety, albeit populations will take awhile to build.

I liked the "**** the midge" attitude I could have with the midge tolerant variety but found the current variety pretty susceptible to fusarium.

Nothing is a problem this year because of the Sahara Effect, lol.

      Take care folks.

Spray plane guy out spraying fungicides says the front window is covered with midge.

If 80 percent of your heads have anthers they are already producing ferlic acid and are wheat midge resistant. Im way past that stage.

If that plane is that close to the ground in flight that is just scary. Are you sure he's not just looking for work. ;-)

I realize they fly pretty low but didn't think midge flew much above the crop.
