Statoil basically said if Alberta was going to charge little to NO royalties ,they were going to get in on the FREE oil too.

I actually meant the first comment about the potash industry. It is a huge capital investment.

Whether it's oil or potash don't expect to change royalty rates and not have huge backlash.

Kind of like deciding that property taxes should be 3% of market value. Guess what your capital investment would be worth then.

Says they paid the 2.2 Billion in CASH!. Guess Sk NDP should have copied Statoil, when in power and became a world wide oil baron too. They had scandals I see, but so does BIG business have it's CROOKS. But obviously either royalties or profit stayed in Norway's accounts rather than Oil Company shareholders.

Alberta has contributed $100's of Billions to the Canadian economic system. Equalization has taken the cream off the top.
Anyone who says black oil has got a free ride is demented.
We need to live with in our means and be smart about the future of Alberta.
The ND need to listen... We have an innovative crew of Wildrose political leaders with common sense ideas.
The doom and gloom is over reacting... We have a great future of prosperity if we listen and be responsible humble leaders.
            Cheers!

Compare Alaskan royalty structure to Albertas

For a 4 year period in the early 2000's more money came to alberta govt from VLTs than from oil sands royalties. (Article in oil and gas revue)

The royalty structure was written by and for the oil companies, much like the property rights legislation You were so fond of

Alberta is not Alaska... And we do not live in the USA
I say black you claim I said White.
No wonder Canada has difficulty ahead.
We have a wonderful future if we choose to build a better nation.
                Cheers!

Norway again! Simple question how many of you are willing to pay a 25% sales tax and an income tax rate of 55%? That is Norway.
