Both Dr Rchard Gray and Western Canadian Wheat Growers suggest adjusting or tweaking the grain transportation revenue entitlement for railways.
RRs could get more for shipping to Pacific in winter.
Gray also supports more elevator capacity at coast but does not say how to pay for it.
Questions for others at next week's Saskatoon meeting whether they agree.

Why pay more? Are they going to carry your grain instead of oil? CNRL alone has 300 rail cars DAILY moving oil in alberta. Why pay more when they still will not move your grain? Oil and frack sand pays 80-100/ tonne for service. YOu cannot hope to match that, so don't go down that road. Railways have been given everything. They should provide service.

How do they factor the efficiencies of 2 mile long trains?

Will service level agreements give us greater reliability.

Let not the only legacy of the CTA be higher rates to farmers.

With all the efficiency gains from rail abandonment and elevator consolidation maybe there is only one way rates should be moving, and not up.

I'll bet their overall non-management labour costs have gone down as well. How much is the Top Brass making?

With the railways logic they could eliminate the lines between thunder bay and Banff. Put the freight on the public highway system. And then charge the shit out of getting it thru the mountains.

              And still make billions.

Talk to railway employees and you will soon find out what's really ****ed up.

Here is how ignorant the railways are. They are tearing up the line near hodgeville because they managed to figure that it's cheaper to use the highways and both the province and federal governments said ok. They are using the rail and other stuff they are tearing out for the line required to bethune potash mine.

Good recycling and if you seen the rail condition down in lac magnetic you might wonder where the rail safety people are and where they pick up their brown bags of cash.

To be fair to Wheatgrowers, they also call for a review of rates to keep grain shipping rates no higher than other shipping.
Could result in lower rates for some grain shipping.

Recognize that extra capacity to handle and move grain has a cost, especially at times and years when it sits idle.
Many of us have extra harvest capacity to deal with large crops or inclement weather.
Maybe it is in our own best interest to pay more up front for handling and transportation.
Costs to us of a deficient system may be even greater.
                  Just thinking.

Absolute shame to destroy roads as if they are for FREE. F*ck the RR's and elevator Co's, evil wasteful bastards just charge it to the farmer in the end! St. Walburg, Glaslyn, Spiritwood, all abandoned. Pioneer in Spiritwood is a concrete also, maybe 20 yrs old. Drove past those sad towns lately, highways are shit and getting worse. Must be a 60-80 mile haul for some.

They managed to brown paper bag someone without getting caught.

                      Kudos to those involved.

Not so good for the taxpayers.

I get the impression that cp employees and management don't think they are taxpayers.
