    Rain

Gone from drought conditions to over 4 inches in 2 hours in certain areas just east of Calgary. Very welcom moisture but could do without the carnage.

    Overland flooding alerts. Good grief.

Lightning shot thru the new Co-Op building being built in Strathmore. Yikes.

      Something new yesterday.
A beaver cultting off canola and heading back to lodge trailing a yellow clump of flowering plants.

About 5 drops here, first time we missed it all year. Gonna need rain to keep this crop going with it's shallow roots! If the tap is gonna be turned off for another ten days, in this heat, she'll be half the crop it was 10 days ago. From 40 to 20 in 3 weeks! The problems of starting out with a heavy lush stand, and no shortage of rain for the first 60 days.

We spent all day with our granddaughter at the Calgary Zoo
Just a nice drizzle... Doubt there was 7mm and way less in north part of Calgary.
Certainly no flooding in Calgary proper... At 2:30pm

Last night 4 tenths at our home place. 2" just to the northeast. Our wheat flattened again. That's 3 times. Barley is still standing.

Wind blew away half of Killarney's drive in theater last night also.

Pop up storms again tonight. Right now! a twister is on the ground just a few miles from Grassfarmer's new place!

Which direction Braveheart? Don't see anything exciting going on. Bigger lightening storm and wind last night. Few drops then, 2/10ths tonight. Could use a lot more but are in good shape relative to a lot of people.
Had visitors here the last couple of days that drove from BC right across the prairies and reckoned the best field of canola they saw was right next door to me.

It's over now but touched down straight west of you about 4 miles west of Pelican Lake west shore. Haven't heard of anything but damaged crops.

Hope you get some good rain. It's real hit and miss right now.

                        As the world shrinks....

Information at your fingertips like never before. Watching radar, anytime anywhere, adds a whole new dimension to the anticipation, realization, disappointment or elation of the evolution and resolution of forecasted rain events. What an emotional roller coaster. Communicating with many others to compare results within seconds.

Yep, interesting information sharing for sure. that must have been 6 or 7 miles west of us. Close enough!

2 tenths here, two and a half miles north, 7 tenths. 5 miles north east, an inch and 3 tenths.
