On main stem, each pod represents 1 bu. Should be within /- 10%. Just a rough estimate. I chose 8 instead of 13 due to the look of some of those pods. If they fill, the yield could be around 13 bu.

Sorry, what I refer to as a branch is not the main stem.
However, I agree with your bu/acre estimates based on what you see in the picture. Thanks.

Counting pods on the main doesn't work. Every variety is different. 74-44 will have way more main stem pods then will an invigor. Invigor branches out better. Have had lots of 60-70 pod main stems with a 50 bus yield

interesting, I have always found it more accurate at higher pod count. It seems to underestimate at the lower by more than 10%. I usually combine with a dirty sample though!

Last time I had a pioneer wagon out, and it was 71 bu/acre official, pod count was in the 70's. unfortunately, since then I am always in the 20-40's, and pod count is similar (bin estimate). I know the crop adjustors do a more thorough pod count, but again main stem pod count is just a quick, rough estimate.

From the north west to Cypress hills crops are all iver the places with pockets of decent crop at best. 70% will be far below ave from what I seen
