I will continue slumming it in the ghetto as well!
I bet Gary Pike is in! He could use the 100 hours on a line of new equipment. i think Broad Acre Farms may be a little shy on power units going forward.

I think someone at JD really doesn't understand the law of diminishing returns. There is no money to be made shooting for a 100 bu/a crop. You make 100 you make some money. Who pays when you need 80 bu/a at $12 to break even and don't make it? JD? LOL

Didn't I hear Ben Hudey hit the mark in about 2006?

Let Agritrend grow a small irrigated plot of 100 bu/ac canola first before promoting a fifty acre contest. Maybe its been done on a small scale but I doubt it.

World record comes out of new Zealand at 112bpa. I'm thinking it's a winter type.

Agritrend. What a joke. Small failed farmers become 'coaches' and advise multimillion dollar farm managers how to improve their business. LOL.

I'm going to say like most others a 50 acre field could maybe get to 80 if every thing worked out. To a 100 is bull shit luck. Also for years Ben Hudye tried at and couldn't. Also some companies use a way wagon on your best strip in field. Ah an old fence line and maybe but 50 is a nice size plot. This is a way to generate income for the company not farmers.

Thing is if their so fricking smart they should pay out of their pocket and rent a 50 acre parcel and give it every thing possible and see how well they do getting their 100. Put your money (farmer money you took for advise) where your mouth is.

In the right conditions it is possible now. There have been 80-90 bus yeilds pulled out of a few areas each years he past 8 in areas in Alberta and Manitoba , but it is rare and usually from Hut colonies using chicken/ turkey and or hog manure - in small feilds usually less than 80 ac. I think 100 bus is possible but not with 100 % commercial fert at or before seeding .
Our best was 72 bus on 157 ac two years ago - no bugs , no disease , ideal rain and lucky timing on top dressing - that combo may never happen for us again .
We have also hit 10 - 20 in 2000 to 2002 and bailed 700 ac of frozen canola in 2004 . So motha nature holds the hammer but with other tools and the right timing it is possible - small scale at this time. It is not something to get your fur all up about, it is a challenge that will only come out of the best dirt with ideal conditions .
