Is the drought over in Saskatchewan?

I was reading an article on the Agrimoney sight in which crop forecaster Gail Martell stated"Saskatchewan drought has been virtually resolved with heavy soaking rain recently". The same article rated soil moisture as 69% surplus or adequate across Saskatchewan. I guess everything is back to normal in the world's eyes. What are your thoughts?

Nope not here, some "relief" but will like more after harvest to recharge the reserves. 1.08 inches last event.

My thoughts? Depends where you are. Here we have excessive soil moisture and it is harming things.

Drought by definition has nothing to do with crops, just moisture - an extended period of low rainfall. The fact that yield is set at 4 leaf in wheat has to do with final yield - but drought is a meteorological event.

Given recent rains over a majority of SK, Gail is right.

Not Saskatchewan, but certainly not over around here. We've received some showers in the last half of July, but not enough to change much. Can still bale hay almost everyday inspite of a forecast which usually showed showers daily.

Gail is wrong - look at precip maps, maybe 1/2 Sask not the rest

In this area we are good till after harvest..Then we will need some because the ground will be like concrete after the hard rains, and fall tillage will be difficult.

i would hardly call 2.6 inches of rain since may 1st , as a drought being over.
normal here is 1.7 may 2.5 june 2.0
                july so 2.6 out of 6.2 , roughly 40%
                of normal

                  Agree with sawfly
The rain fall 1 to 2 miles circle outside of NB is less than 1/2 of what is shown .

Drought isn't over in my area either. For media types if there isn't cattle with their ribs sticking out and gophers running through a six inch high wheat crop,it's over. We are one 30 degree day from being where we were before the last shower.

Was at 15-30% of average precip until the 3.25" last week. Still 3" away from April-July normal precip. So no the drought is not over.

Not over around Regina either. 2.5 inches for growing season. I thought less than 11 inches in the desert.

Dedicating peas and driving through sloughs with skinnies that I've never dared to venture in with the 4wd pulling a 16 ft discer. The drought is alive and well at Arelee Sask.

Tweety makes a point in that those that don't understand how a crop is grown getting rain end of July doesn't make a crop in areas that were in drought. It will help those that had some rain earlier to have some crop growing. And in areas where there was lots of rain you re being hurt by his much this quick. So it really has to be defined a lot better as to what you are talking about.
If your talking soil moisture or growing a good crop not always the same thing.
