I am going to vote conservative. I will do so not because they have done everything right but because Trudeau and Mulcair would lead us towards more government, more regulation and more debt!
Look at the Ontario provincial Liberals, this the most indebted non-sovereign government entity in the world.. Ontario and Quebec have 500 billion dollars of public debt between them. Mulcair wants a national child program much like Quebec's provincial one which is financed by federal transfer payments which originate in Alberta. Is Harper perfect? No he is not and does he have a vision of what infrastructure this country needs for the future? No he doesn't but I like his ideas better than cap and trade and other carbon control programs. Don't forget crops need co2 to grow. The only thing that will grow under the Liberals and NDP is government and your tax bill!

But that's fear mongering. You don't know what mulcair and Trudeau will do.

We know what harper will do because he's done it for 10 years now.

Paul Martin lost to Harper's campaign that said "canada deserves better".

Looking back I am not sure we got better.

      Overall that is.

Sure the cwb and gun registry is gone but look at the infrastructure deficit created.

Do I think mulcair or Trudeau understand it - no. But harper hasn't grasped it either. And with his record of **** ups he is soon to be doing the same shit as chretien.

How is what I said fear mongering? Mulcair stated he will raise corporate tax 3%. Trudeau has stated he will raise income taxes on the wealthy. Name one instance when either said they will cut the size of government. Kathryn Wynn is promoting the cap and trade deal Quebec and Ontario signed with California. They want us all to follow their lead. This is nothing but a money grab by the two most indebted jurisdictions in Canada.

Again Bucket explain how this is fear mongering I just repeat what I read!

Here is what I told a neighbor I got out of the conservatives ad about Trudeau.

"...Since the conservatives represent corporate canada is that the way they are going to look at my kids resume after he has his training that he isn't ready so he is coming to live in my basement because the conservatives have pushed this country into a recession. And won't admit it, so it's my kid with fresh ideas that gets shit on? Maybe those old ****ers should rethink their place place at the table? ..."

I am by no means endorsing Trudeau but I don't like what it's saying about corporate canada.

Hamloc: What gov't dept's would you like to see cut?
I think it is pretty trim or maybe even thin in most depts now.
At least it seems it is when you try to contact them or look at the work that is getting done.
So where would you like it cut?

Yes you are right. It's what they say and it's not fear mongering.

But where is the money going to come from to rebuild highways that have been directly ruined by the likes of two railways that won't expand services or their own infrastructure.

To build a highway today for the traffic on it - you are essentially building a rail bed. But instead of the railways doing it the taxpayer is and creating an environmental nightmare with trucks crossing the nation.

More rail beds, more trains , better service for all Canadians .

But really none of the parties are promoting a rebuilding of Canada's infrastructure.

We don't need a ceo for this country we need an engineer to rebuild it.

              Not likely going to happen.

We need a man with VISION, FrAnklin d Roosevelt type of man.
Harper needs to show us his Economics Degree
Not sure he really has one.
Roosevelt would have had a huge infrastructure rebuild happening by now.
Harper would just find another holy war to get involved .( he is keeping us Safe from the terrorists don't you know)

Canada Should be promoting itself as the Big Food Basket of the world NOT the energy superpower

They are finally working on highway 42 between eyebrow and keeler.

Contractor says it's a bigger job than he first thought.

Here is my thoughts. Start from scratch build a new highway to super b weights go around eyebrow and get a 112 car spot there and use the eyebrow facility.

Other wise it's just a bandaid fix.

We have to start doing things right.

Here is what I would like cut. Arts, bilingualism, the cbc, imigration...

Do any of you use the TFSA? Because at the time, even the stupid cbc thought it was a great idea, and it was touted as the most significant policy shift in decades.

If you use a TFSA, thank Harper for that one. It is an enormously beneficial policy, and a classic case of letting taxpayers use their own money.

I believe I said I was against an increase in government. As for cuts moe needs to be done with pension reform we are loving longer so this looms as a big future liability. Corporate handouts like the recently announced handout to Toyota are wrong and have to go. A tough question because Bucket is right we need investment in national infrastructure.

You could be right on your cuts I never use any of those dept so can't comment. Other than CBC if they happen to have something on I want to watch and that is for the show not the channel.
I wouldn't want most Dept's I deal with want to be cut anymore it literally takes months to get through.
For me gov't cuts is a non issue if not the opposite.
The same with how many times someone remortgages their home. I don't think there is anyone that has never borrowed money, how they get it is their business. Unless you only want Multi millionaires running our country. I know lots of farmers that never own any machinery free and clear, Lease, borrow to buy new or have it as collateral input loans. They are still good managers.

                          Mustard,

What a short memory you have.

We spent what at least $100B on infrastructure since 08... a big chunk of the deficits incurred.

Corporate Canada DOES NOT fund the federal Conservatives... NOT ONE RED CENT.

Common little people Joe Shmoe send Fed Conservative everything they have and spend. Check the election laws. It is sad how many farmers swallow the left message without a question or reservation!

Canada escaped the economic adjustment of 2008 forced on many countries: the next government will be forced to deal with the economic adjustment of an oil dependant nation. This will not be an easy time for the nation, and our leaders but it will be necessary or we become Greece. This term will be no prize, but indeed not for those who will not address the entitlement mentality which defines the nation.

No answers from me, I think we're all just along for the ride. Doesn't really matter who governs, altho I'm a conservative capitalist. Big Business rules, with money, and it doesn't change altho unions have enough weight to protect their interests. But I'll never forget envelopes handed to Mulroney and so as Groucho said "who are you going to believe, me or your eyes."
So, we get to vote in the people who get front row seats at the trough.
I believe the only way to save us is to become two countries, split with Thunder Bay in the west. It gives each country more control, this way our leaders try to be everything to everybody, leaves too much opposite positions to satisfy.
