You guessed it bucket. Never in Canada,s history has there been a More advertised program than 'The 'economic action plan'
More spent on Ads than actual infrastructure

It however did stimulate the Advertising companies bottom line

This government with a majority and almost total support from the West had ample time to show their support for the West. Instead I feel like they totally snubbed us and pretty much told us, "we know you're going to support the Conservatives, no matter what", so we'll close every tree farm, get rid of all government programs or reduce them to token bureaucracies, stick our head in the sand so we can't hear you. You'll give up if we just ignore you. That's how I feel the last decade has gone. So there's my opinion.

They phone for our support several times a day, yesterday was called by someone where I could not understand a word, not one. Then later a real gruff rude woman. Yet never once do they call and say, "why will you not send in your support?" "Just hurry up and send us some money cause Justin or Mulcair will win, and then what?"

An interesting discussion, if not somewhat amusing. Here is what I plan to do. Go in and spoil my ballot and write on it - "enough is enough! We need democratic reform and some truly inspirational leadership"! Harper has had over 8 years and now we are in a recession. Plus just this past week Con Ministers announced over a billion dollars in new investment just in Calgary alone. No details, just election campaigning. And JT, well I just don't see PM material there though he might have a good team behind him. And Mulcair? Who is this guy? He does kind of scares me. In the end, I reserve the right to complain about and criticize whoever wins because I just wasn't presented with a viable choice I could get behind. And that's all I have to say about that.

The Conservatives don't excite me but the alternatives scare me to death.

50% of canadians work for the government in one way or another - vote ndp for job security.

20% business people, like farmers, vote cons, want to see a strong economy.

20% welfare, students, social programees, vote ndp for program security.

10% in love with Justins hair, vote liberal.

            My prediction anyways.

I'm afraid the federal election will be like AB, makes no business sense, but social. and we have become such a socially connected society, NDP will probably take this one. At least till the pendulum swings the other way - probably initiated by no jobs, lose the house and toys, and a bit of hunger.

NDP voters will never switch.Either will the Pc base vote.Majority of Canadians are liberal minded and can vote anything.Liberals left the economy very strong and Harper has given it away to the rich.Voters will be so sick of Harpers long election endless attack ads and dodging debates The Liberal policy to totally revamp the elections of Canada will go over very well.

Newguy, I agree with most of what you say.
I consider myself liberal minded but couldn't vote for the "Liberals" if they had 2 Revenue Canada goons at the polling station breaking your fingers is you didn't mark your X for them.
I like Harper but think he has surrounded himself with morons.

                Ritz? Jason Kenney?
I was planing on voting Green but maybe not this time. May need my vote.

This country, so rich with resources plunges into big time debt during the highest commodity prices. Why? answer me this Tom? Or any other defender.

Because the bloc, the ndp, and the liberals were making a plan to take over and govern. Layton was rumoured to have been lined up to be finance minister.

While Harper at this point had a minority, the other parties forced the conservatives to make a massive injection of debt funded money, known as the bailout package.

People forget these things way too fast.

For those complaining about a long election, you do realize that Canada finally is having its FIRST fixed election date? It is not a surprise that there is an election in October. Maybe the memo was missed? I don't get it?

Wtf is the point of spending extra money on an election where everyone you talk to is voting for who might be the least of the worst idiots or crooks to run the country.

Freewheat you sure turn into a big spender when it's something stupid that Stevie does.

Do you think it's right trying to outright blow money to buy an election with taxpayer money. Because holy shit. All the rich areas and companies are getting their conservative come kiss my ass money or what?

I am assuming this is long ago planned and budgeted for funds. This is not new stuff being announced. Stuff like when Paul Martin all of a sudden promised they would ban guns.

Again, money has been being spent all along, if one was watching. Ministers out and about getting face time with their big announcements is not a sudden and recent phenomenon.

And finally, unless you were hiding under a rock somewhere in Croatia, we all knew an election would be happening in early October. Called a fixed election date. Everyone knew about it. No more pulling the trigger according to polls. No more delaying for a full five years, hoping to turn things around.

I like the fixed election date. It really should not be a surprise. Heck, I heard a communist, I mean ndp candidate on the radio today say he was, get this, " shocked". Shocked? What? Why would one be shocked there would be an election, on a date set long ago? Just plain weird. lol

Everyone knows the election date but dragging this out only to waste money what horse shit.

                          Santa Clause Stevie.

Too bad some calling themselves conservatives have their brains stuck in nuetral as far as being open minded and wanting a better country. Oh my we ll vote Steve because everyone else is bad. Holy fk. Leave that sheep alone for a minute and find out maybe what's going on.

Do you need a list of the positive things this government has done? A bit of a reminder, perhaps. Maybe your head has been stuck so far into the post office box, waiting for a subsidy from the government for so long, that you have missed the last several years, and maybe need to be brought up to speed on the many good things this government has brought forth?

Maybe you are expecting an interim payment from the wonderful CWB still? lol

Nothing more to my story than living within my means and diversifying.

Frugality is fun, and my reason I am still on the land.

I do look forward to user fees for health care.
