Riders2010 I am curious how you envision a NDP or Liberal government building a better Canada. Realistically government holds the power of taxation and then is responsible for determining how it is spent. It cannot create wealth, it can redistribute wealth to a limited extent through taxation policies.
The unfortunate problem with overly zealous progressive policies is they create a level of spending that cannot be supported without onerous levels of taxation. So what happens in a democracy is they go into debt in ever increasing amounts to support their policies. The end result is situation like Greece where taxes are increased to pay the debt and government programs are gutted. Who ends up paying? Future generations with high youth unemployment and a large inherited debt.
I am not a fan of corporate welfare or of the rich controlling the politicians like in the US. What I would like to see is a positive vision from government that creates an environment for economic growth, only growth will allow the spending required to raise the quality of life of our less fortunate without sacrificing our kids futures with increasing debt and taxation. Unfortunately no such political entity exists in Canada today.

      Hamloc,

How DARE you confuse these lefties with the truth! They can't handle the truth... must distort actual reality like:

TOYOTA... the $58M Feds are putting in... is a repayable LOAN. Ontario Lbs on the other hand... well read it and you tell me... who is giving Toyota $42Mcash... THE LIBERALS.

"TORONTO - The federal and provincial governments will provide financial assistance to help expand Toyota's manufacturing operations in southern Ontario.

The two governments will provide a total of $100 million towards Toyota's planned $421 million investment in the automaker's Cambridge operations.

The Canadian Press has learned the provincial Liberal government will give Toyota a grant of up to $42.1 million, or 10% of the project's cost."

I googled... this was in the Toronto Sun:

      THE CANADIAN PRESS

Greybeard. You hit the nail on the head.Harper surrounds himself with puppets.Anyone with an opinion will never get anywhere in the party.A good leader surrounds himself with great people.Harper just gave a supreme court spot to a buddy.Harpers judgement record has been horrible. That is why the whole political system everyone is sick of and wants some serious change. And the boogie man will not appear if Voters want change. Canada needs and wants a pitiless correction.

          Tom

If a farmer buys new equipment does he get both provincial and federal matching loans?

If toyota needs the money to pay back the loan they just jack the price up on a new car.

The auto industry doesn't need government money. Repayable or not.

              Bucket;

I like the question about getting money to buy equipment!

I can get all the federal money I need though FCC... or even an interest free loan on advanced funds before the crop even is planted!

I can get all the provincial money I need too if required... low rate long term very good terms.

So yes... there is no reason the feds shouldn't lend Toyota money... when farmers get loans from them every day of the week. Money costs them nothing in the whole scheme of things... Obama makes trillions... and no one even blinks!

                100 million election.

Day one goes to Trudeau I don't even know what the questions were and what his answers were but at least he had the balls to take all questions unlike the other two that are in an election and expect us to read their empty minds.

Sum dum. I have guns. I like my guns. I wish to keep my guns. In that scenario, Harper wins.

I wanted market freedom. I detested the CWB. Harper wins.

I have children, and a stay at home wife. The leftists hate that, they wanted to have a subsidized child care plan. Harper gave the money directly to parents who need it most. Harper wins.

Canada needed another vehicle in which to become more of a saving nation. The TFSA is an absolutely awesome tax free invesment program. Harper wins.

The liberals promised to rid Canada of the gst and did nothing. Harper promised to lower it to 6 then to 5%. He actually did so. Harper wins.

Property values. Harper is the only one even talking about our rights as citizens, and the only one who has mused that we have the right to defend our property. He wins.

                  Shall I go on? lol

                    Riders,

                    Who writes your posts???

From CBC News report; "Unlike Harper, Mulcair did not take any questions from reporters."

...Mulcair spent the afternoon in Ottawa, attending the funeral of former Progressive Conservative cabinet minister Flora MacDonald.

Trudeau marched in Vancouver's Pride parade, keeping a promise he made to organizers that he'd attend.

"No one's going to get me to break my word, particularly not Stephen Harper," he said, firing back at critics who wondered about him travelling West Sunday morning and making his opening statement later than the other leaders.

Voters will get their first chance to see the party leaders together in action on Aug. 6 during a debate hosted by Maclean's magazine in Toronto."

                          Stonepicker,

I second that motion. Another option for marketing our other grains would be great too... when Bunge gets the facilities assembled out on the western front!

Thanks to all who stayed at the CWB beast and defanged it's nasty side!
