Tom the social license of food production is not well understood I agree but it goes deeper than this.

Heard a comment the other day: Ag Labour shortage could be solved by just paying more for workers: apparently an well held view held by bureaucrats in Ottawa.

Of course that was before Ag was the only stable employer in the west...It is our challenge to define solutions in the new status we have with policy makers as a valuable industry now apparent, with the decline of oil.

The real issue is in learning to tell our story, to the right people, not just preaching to the converted.

Don't know about your region Horse but I always thought AB Ag used the craziest groupings of regions in these reports. Our area was "Airdrie, Rimbey, Coronation, Oyen" Pairing up one of the highest precipitation areas in the province with one of the driest. Conditions at Oyen will almost never be the same as they are at Rimbey.

Hemp buyers offer new crop contracts with an act of God. I suspect a very good yeilding crop may have risk of carryover and softer prices if a person is not contracted.

I agree we need to do a better job of telling our story. If I use Agriville left wing rhetorical comments that come across like ND/Lib soul mates... I can't see how we can win. So many say nothing. Heads down working and butts being kicked wherever!
Sure it easy to ignore politics... and 'What will be will be' my vote doesn't matter any way!

I am rally afraid for our grandchildren... the ecoenviro sideways to common sense seem to be able to get their vote out... with promises of classless poverty... I should have said prosperity... everyone deserves better social license mentality. the Wind farms and power lines are built... and now the farm community must also green themselves to be participants in the new social order!!!
