Got rid of the wheat board and the best price is feeding to the pigs 1 wheat? Sure was worth all the fight hey? Ha
Thought that was gonna solve all of our problems? What a joke our industry has become. Calculate inflation and we re at what year back in time?

Are we to believe that some of the lowest prices for Red Spring wheat in the last 30 years just happened? We have a small crop and a drought in much of western Canada.
Here are the Ag Canada in store port prices for 13.5 1cwrs. They don’t list prices above this protein level.
July 17 324.05
July 10 333.27
July 3 338.31
Jun 26 324.17
Jun 19 298.23
Jun 12 308.82
Ag economist Richard Gray at a recent meeting in Saskatoon told farmers they have lost 5 billion in the last two crop years because of the basis grain companies are taking from farmers.
No other ag economist has refuted Dr. Grays analysis.
I am confused why suggest growing feed wheat when Ritz promised the sky once the CWB was gone. Why is this not happening? Could it be that some farmers actually believed this false profit (Ritz).
And what kind of marketing and prices are the grain companies achieving. A Reuters news article on a sale to Iraq Canada had the lowest tender, lower than Russia and the Ukraine.

No one refutes Richard Gray because he lost what little respect he had by being the wheat board's bitch all those years.

IFarmer,
If anything... you are all the proof needed to give a very good example of why grain growers need education and marketing education. Your fetish that someone will do the hard work... and make good decisions for the farm families who need decent returns... without a good marketing plan with well thought out strategies... but instead blindly sell to the lowest pool price... decade after decade because their father was required to... is a sorry reflection of history and habitual human pride.
Blame every one else... there are no other options but the CWB... even after it is gone... and this is your marketing plan to teach next generation farmers in your family? Are you serious?
Have you ever looked at John's plan... in depth... to see if it could help make your farm more profitable?
Hope you can see that personal responsibility is an important skill to learn.. and your farm can do better... and your family be served well by your example going forward!
All the best!
BTW... the old CWB single desk zapped the malt and feed prices in the pooling system... to make sure all grain growers were equally poorly served by a horrible idea that all must share in the fruits of hard working responsible folks that are responsible business managers.
I contend that if a grower can negotiate $6.50 for Malt barley... or $6.50 for feed wheat... good for them. I am not entitled to any of their blood sweat and tears... nor is the livestock producer entitled to a $2 discount probono as the CWB used to provide... to arbitrage the feed price down at the expense of the Single Desk Pool Scheme.
A horrible plan to sell your soul to I Farmer! All the basis and weather problems still existed with the CWB,,, but were hidden in the pool and quota.
Thanks to the folks who ended this CWB blame game... at least we can see what needs to be fixed now... and proceed with the plans to do just that!

Tom here is a question I put out to you. If your area freezes next Monday and a hard freeze how well will you do marketing your shit crop. You will have to buy out contracts etc. Just saying mother nature is a bitch and she is not done with Alberta with a few showers.
Education Yes More education is better I do agree on that.
But the games in Canada is Bull shit.
I had to be sacrificed in 2014 so Grain could be moved in Alberta to help CP and CN look Good.
I got nothing back from this shit show.

SF3,
IF it froze... we would still have grain to fill contracts... at lower quality granted.
In Fact from what I have seen... John's program may be less risky overall because it is less DDC and more futures/Spreads based...
Therefore not understanding the point here... other than learning new skills is not a bad idea!
Cheers!
