    Durum in SW sask?

Just curious if anyone's started any in the SW. or any wheat for that matter. We're well out of the traditionally durum growing area but do it anyway, but usually need the help of better stuff, less fuz and Mildew and sprouting and frost and on and on. Elevators won't look at ours if they got nothing better somewhere else.

What does the US market say about your quality? I am under the belief from what others have said that they will take anything and call it #1.

Last year very similar. Had it graded for a US destination company and they graded it a 3, high vommi. Locally was a #4 and 3.5% fuz. independant canadian grader graded a #3, 2.4% fuz. but was less than a dollar difference after exchange, not nearly enough to make up the difference in trucking from an hour north of Regina.

When swathing weeds along a trail clipped some durum down too.Threshed it out a few days later by hand and was amazed how nice it looks this year.Filled up with fat kernels.
