Re the report, the US analysts we listen to ALL though the USDA was out to lunch. They felt the USDA hadn't reconciled the crop condition with the climate model. They also said last years crop size was greatly overestimated (surprise).

Oh well, with volatility comes opportunity. Patience. Serenity now.

Yes Mmanitoba, I'm sure you long for the initial payment days of the CWB to come back. Let's see, this year it would be $0.97/bushel. No wait, that's high. Maybe $0.87. **** me what bullshit.

Yep Braveheart, you remind us of those days! A few cents when you delivered. Then maybe a little in between, usually at Xmas and then the big pay-off 18 months later, just a few dollars, maybe $3-$4 short of the market average. But, we must be vigilant for the next fox in the chicken coup. We were so happy with them that we only grew, lentils, Canaryseed and feed wheat after 1980. We vowed not to grow one bushel for them, but some guys loved them. Just interesting.

Sumdum , there is definitely interesting philosophies for and against the old CWB. I remember trying to use the estimated PRO to calculate cost of production and break even prices. Then deliver the grain, get paid the initial price and then wait, hope, and wish that the final payment would come early and be near the PRO.
My farm was pretty small and I had small children, I realized I could not afford to plant wheat if I was going to put food on my table.
Once I erased HRSW from my thoughts, things got better. I dont think the CWB was completely to blame , but the romance of growing HRSW in Western Canada. I dont even think about wheat anymore and shen neighbors started talking about it, i just tune out! I am the odd man out in those conversations!
