I'm looking for a US oat price, does anyone have a site to check? These Canadian prices don't seem like they will pay the bills

Not a good time for selling oats. All my usual sites, Walsh Grain, North Central Grain, and Bottineau Farmers Elevator, show no bid for oats.

I guess it might be worth looking into more, sure be nice if our locals were worth a shit, when we got marketing freedom I liked the idea I had the choice to haul south but I didn't think I'd have to.
Yes I know oats have been off the CWB for a long time.

Do you have any independents that buy exotic fertilizers like Amidas or SuperU?
Some bring it in by truck from the USA... they'd give you a deal on trucking down there.
That's the problem... trucking cost... It worked when oats was 7 bucks a bushel two years ago.
How far away from the border are you?

2 btrains fill a (producer) rail car with oats. If buyers are agreeable to pricing, they will administrate freight payments to railroad. You qualify buyer with a counts recievable insurance, order the rail car through CGC, fill it when it arrives, and release it to the Railroad, and CGC.
You need a NAFTA certificate which is easy and buyer probably already has the forms.
lots of rail cars go stateside.
Cochrane, wisonsin, St. Ansgar, Iowa, Eugene, Oregon, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Bethel, Vermont, Fitchburg, Massachsettes, Boulder. Colorado, and several destinations in California. Tulare and Fresno come to mind. I suspect California may be in need of feed grains around February to May.
You never know what will happen once you get on the phone asking questions.
Or else make a standard email describing what grains and quality you have , where you are, which siding and rail line.

Prices are going to suck because ocean freight is down which makes scandanavian oats cheap to import. Sad when they can get it from halfway around the world cheaper than railing it from here.
